Publisher's Summary

Lt. Mellie Blake is looking forward to beginning her training as a flight nurse. She is not looking forward to writing a letter to a man she’s never met - even if it is anonymous and part of a morale-building program. Lt. Tom MacGilliver, an officer stationed in North Africa, welcomes the idea of an anonymous correspondence - he’s been trying to escape his infamous name for years.

As their letters crisscross the Atlantic, Tom and Mellie develop a unique friendship despite not knowing the other’s true identity. When both are transferred to Algeria, the two are poised to meet face-to-face for the first time. Will they overcome their fears and reveal who they are? Or will their future be held hostage by their pasts?

Combining a flair for romance with excellent research and attention to detail, Sarah Sundin vividly brings to life the perilous challenges of WWII aviation, nursing - and true love.

What the Critics Say

"I love the nostalgia and drama of the WWII era. No one takes me back there better than Sarah Sundin. With Every Letter is a beautiful love story and has everything you want in a novel: romance, suspense, and characters you care about from the very first page. A marvelous beginning for her new series. I can’t wait to read the next book." (Dan Walsh, award-winning and best-selling author of The Discovery)

"A Wonderful Story About Having Faith in God!"

A lovely story about having faith and trusting God. The story is set during World War ll. Tom is an officer in North Africa and Mellie is a flight nurse. Everyone has heard of Tom because of a decision made by a family member when he was a child, and Mellie faces insecurities that she developed as a child. Both must learn to trust in God and have faith in the plan he has set before them without allowing their past and insecurities to hinder them. This is a must read! Sarah Sundin weaves the love of God and the faith and trust we must have in Him into every book she writes, and her gift for details is wonderful. I am blessed everytime I read a book by Sarah.

    "great story and wonderful narrator!"

I loved this story. It may have gone a tad long but never lost my attention. The narrator was one of the best I've heard. I'm not sure if the military truly allowed so much lovey-dovey stuff, so I chalked that up to fiction and just enjoyed the story. I highly recommend this one.

    "Enjoyed every minute"

This is a historically well researched book and a fantastic love story. It's nice to find a captivating story that is written with Christian values. I'm a busy mom with young kids and haven't read a book in a long time, but with the audio feature I "read" the whole book while exercising. Took a few months, but it was fun to be entertained while working out.

I liked the story but... the description needs to be changed. This book is very religious yet no mention is made of that in the description?! I was drawn to the book because of the time period and what I read in the description. I felt like everything in the description was 2nd place to the religious parts. I don't have anything against religious texts but when you are promised one thing and get another.....

    "Great Story and Narrator"
Would you consider the audio edition of With Every Letter to be better than the print version?

Yes it is better than the print version because The narrator hooked me from the very beginning. I couldn't wait to find out the outcome of the chracters stories. This audio book is an excellent listen.

What did you like best about this story?

The romance. Suspense and the friendships between the chracters

What about Kate Rudd’s performance did you like?

Everything! She made you fall in love with the main chracters. She made you feel every emotion and conflict that arose in the story. I would listen to her again.I hope she will narrate the other books in this series.

If you could take any character from With Every Letter out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Vera I wanted to find out more about her life and her backstory.

    "unexpectedly religious"
    Any additional comments?

One thing that struck me was that the main characters are very religious. It is something that comes out in almost all of the narratives. Some may like this aspect, other may not. I think it's prevalent enough that I was surprised it wasn't mentioned in the description.

Retired CFO, Army wife, Mom of five, Grandma of six, two sons who served in combat, love to read books that reflect my values and faith, love mysteries, historical, military stories, and books that don't waste my time . . . if it doesn't have an ending that was worth the wait, I'm not a happy camper.

"WWII Wounded Souls Find Acceptance and Love"

Two sweet people, with hurtful pasts and loads of insecurities begin a pen pal relationship that neither one of them ever expect will bring healing, but over the span of several months, Mellie and Tom, with the safety of anonymity, reveal their deepest thoughts to one another . . . in war torn North Africa, as Mellie ministers to wounded soldiers and tries to overcome her inability to make friends with the other flight nurses, finds comfort in Tom's letters . . . and Tom, who is finding it difficult to lead his men, finds courage and hope in Mellie's letters . . . both Mellie and Tom love the Lord, and it is that faith that ultimately propels them both forward, enough to face their own fears, both in their jobs and in their relationships . . . this is a beautifully written book about two people, deeply influenced by their childhood experiences, greatly loved and protected by one of their parents, yet hurt by the other parent . . . and as adults, attempting to make sense of those facts . . . and to move forward . . . the conclusion of the story is the very best part . . .

    "Love this book!"

This is the second time I have read this book and the first time I have listened to it. It is truly one of the most romantic stories I have ever read, and Mellie and Tom are so dear to my heart. I love it even more the second time around and I rarely read a book twice. I give it my highest recommendation:)
