Publisher's summary

Jada left home at the age of sixteen, running from her own demons and the horrors of physical abuse inflicted by her mother’s boyfriend. She partied hard, and life seemed good when she was with Born, the neighborhood kingpin whose name was synonymous with money, power, and respect. But all his love couldn’t save her from a crack addiction. Jada goes from crack addict and prostitute to survivor and back again before she finds the strength to live for herself and come out on top. And her stormy romance with one of the fiercest hustlers on the streets makes White Lines one of the most unforgettable urban love stories of the year.

Painfully Honest!

What did you love best about White Lines?

This book gives great insight into the issues of drugs in the black community. The author did not romanticize the issue.

10 years later it will held my attention

After seeing that there was a White Lines 3 I decided to go back and listen to the book I hadn't reread since the year it came out and omg I'm glad I did. If you want a story about the life back in the day, this one is the one for you. Can't wait to get to the next one.
The voice reading the book had a bit of a southern tang which I didn't like for New Yorkers but I got over it

What goes around?

The Aftermath picks up where Snapped left off. The same characters are there, but the drama is still unfolding. This title took me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, while interesting and drama filled,it left me tettering on the edge waiting to find out about some situations and characters.
I believe it leaves room for a part 3. This story was narrated Allyson Johnson, and her voice will pretty good lacked in some parts for me. Not quite conveying the level of intensity in some areas. Otherwise it worked well.

lurrrved this book

I cannot wait to read the rest of the series. I loved it and was completely transported to the back in the day drug game. I love African-American literature and this was no disapointment.

Reader didn't fit the storyline...but a good book.

The reader's country accent was more fitting for a Nora Robert's book, or Sweet Home Alabama.

Loved the story - hated the narration

I honestly felt like the story was good and although it was long it flowed well. However, I felt like the narrator voices were not a good fit for the characters. In particular, Sunny's voice totally did not fit the way she was described.
