Publisher's summary

From the number one New York Times best-selling author of The Husband's Secret and Big Little Lies

A “cheerfully engaging”(Kirkus Reviews) novel for anyone who’s ever asked herself, “How did I get here?”

Alice Love is 29, crazy about her husband, and pregnant with her first child. So imagine Alice’s surprise when she comes to on the floor of a gym (a gym! She HATES the gym) and is whisked off to the hospital, where she discovers the honeymoon is truly over - she’s getting divorced, she has three kids, and she’s actually 39 years old.

Alice must reconstruct the events of a lost decade and find out whether it’s possible to reconstruct her life at the same time. She has to figure out why her sister hardly talks to her, and how is it that she’s become one of those super skinny moms with really expensive clothes. Ultimately, Alice must discover whether forgetting is a blessing or a curse, and whether it’s possible to start over....

Easy fluff to listen to while cleaning the house

Any additional comments?

As a mum of 3 kids, it is hard to have to listen to an audiobook where kids are fighting with each other. I get enough of that on a daily basis. In a physical book, it wouldnt bother me. Not so with an audiobook. There isnt a LOT of it but enough for me to remember it and make it irritating.

Also, the book is quite predictable but it is an easy read/listen book so I was not expecting too much.

very thought provoking

This was a brilliant book. I would give it five stars except for the strong language which I didn't like.

Heartbreaking, hilarious, & honest

This is the third book I have read by Moriarty and I can't seem to get enough! This one provided such an amazing exploration of the reality of love: how painful, wonderful, surprising, scary, hilarious, sad, etc., it can be. She shows the reader how love is more than an emotion, rather, it is a living entity- one that is constantly evolving. So delicately is the reader taken from the highs and lows of the relationships in the stories. No character is perfect, no one is the clear hero or villain. You end up rooting for everyone to win, for love to win, but not really knowing what that "win" should look like. Admittedly, I love that I can (so far!) count on her novels to have "happy" endings. Not that the ending is expected, but you close the book feeling satisfied, happy, full of wonder, a little sad--and amazed how much her dissection of love and these relationships hits home.

A MUST READ!!!!!

Alice wakes up forgetting the reason why she's getting divorced from Nick, forgot her children, forgot her best friend who helped her through it all. So much as changed in the world and in her life in the last teen years and she can't remember a thing. Little flashbacks come, but she's a different person than the one everyone remembers just a few days ago.

I am not sure what I would do, to not remember your own children...I would be devastated. I could feel all her emotions and the turmoil of emotions from her family.
******Just a warning******There is lots of talk of infertility and miscarriages. I was not expecting this and it hit me hard as I suffered from infertility myself. Just to prepare you if you have been through one or both.

I love Liane Moriarty!

I have absolutely loved everything I've read from Liane Moriarty. She never fails to get my attention quickly and hold it tightly until the last word. I am a bit worried about the rumored movie based on this book. I can't imagine how one would condense it into a 2 hour production. Either way, don't miss out on this one. And when it's all wrapped up...it's not!
