Publisher's summary

From the number one New York Times best-selling author of The Husband's Secret and Big Little Lies

A “cheerfully engaging”(Kirkus Reviews) novel for anyone who’s ever asked herself, “How did I get here?”

Alice Love is 29, crazy about her husband, and pregnant with her first child. So imagine Alice’s surprise when she comes to on the floor of a gym (a gym! She HATES the gym) and is whisked off to the hospital, where she discovers the honeymoon is truly over - she’s getting divorced, she has three kids, and she’s actually 39 years old.

Alice must reconstruct the events of a lost decade and find out whether it’s possible to reconstruct her life at the same time. She has to figure out why her sister hardly talks to her, and how is it that she’s become one of those super skinny moms with really expensive clothes. Ultimately, Alice must discover whether forgetting is a blessing or a curse, and whether it’s possible to start over....

I enjoyed listening to this book

I really enjoy listening to this book and the accent she used made it even more enjoyable. The story was interesting and I liked how it was pieced together. The book was a little fluffy but enough substance to keep me thinking.

Loved this book!!

Any additional comments?

This was my first Liane Moriarty book and I absolutely loved it! The narrator was great. It really was a wonderful story of how quickly you can get away from your life and becoming a complete stranger- even to your self. It was heartwarming and sweet. Loved this book. Of Liane Moriarty's books, I recommend this and The Husband's Secret.

Lovely Rendition of a Life

What would it be like to forget the last ten years of your life pressing the reset button and starting things anew? This is the story of Alice who though an accident in the gym erasers her memories and struggles to reconsider her recent choices and the woman she has become. Tamara Lovatt- Smith is a wonderful voice for this audio. I think you will enjoy it as I have so very much.

Loved the story

Good story. Liane Moriarty always writes a thought-provoking story line. I found the narration quite confusing and difficult to sort out the characters in the beginning. It took several chapters to realize who was who. But once that was all settled, it made more sense. It was a bit disorienting and kind of annoying in the beginning and made little sense putting things together. In the end, I enjoyed the story line once you were able to piece together the characters.

Thought provoking

What would you do if you had forgotten many years of your life and then found the way you were living was not the way you had planned your life to go? If you had the chance to change things, would you? This book was well written and very intertaining. I was torn with the direction Alice took in her life.

Great read

The story captured my attention, the characters were believable, and I enjoyed the narrator. Some Australian dialects can be harsh, but hers was light and nearly British and lovely to listen to. I can always tell a good audio book when I sit for 10 minutes in my car after I've reached my destination just listening to the story. Recommended

Not War and Peace but So Much Fun

I feel funny giving this five stars since it’s more literary confection than masterwork. But I enjoyed the book—as an audiobook—so much. It’s Moriarty at her happiest and funniest, and also full of insight into the building blocks—and wrecking balls—of a felicitous family life.

I have listened to it again and again when I have difficulty sleeping.
