Publisher's summary

After 700 years of life, Marguerite Argeneau finally has a career. Well, the start of one, anyway. She's training to be a private investigator, and her first assignment is to find an immortal's mother. It seemed simple enough, until Marguerite wakes up one evening to find herself at the wrong end of a sword. Now she realizes she's in way over her head.

Julius Notte wants to protect Marguerite, and not because someone just tried to take her head off. She doesn't know it yet, but she's his lifemate and he's determined to woo her. It's been over 500 years since he last courted a woman, but surely the techniques haven't changed. Now if only he can keep her alive--so to speak--so they can have that happily-ever-after.

Great story!

As usual Lynsey Sands wrote a wonderful story tying up previous novels. Nice to see the true head of clan get happy ending.

This series is not the right fit for McGee!

I really like the Argeneau Series, and have purchased them all (up to #18, to date), I like to listen to them in order. I like this story too, except that, out of all the narrators Victoria McGee, is the worst for This Series. It seems to me, that Lynsay Sands just can't find a steady narrator to commit to her series. Despite the too many different readers of the series, I do find her stories interesting and worth the credits. Regarding this story, the editing of this book seemed to be faulty, and made me wonder if a ghost writer was used because there were a couple of times that the storyline did not match within the story itself. And as a fan of the series, I did have some trouble with Linsay's depiction of Marguerite as a "strong-willed airhead" who is too stupid to see past her own selfish desires." I couldn't find any sympathetic "female/motherly commonality" with her and found it hard to believe in light of her other descriptions of Marguerite in other books. This, coupled with the poor narration of the book, led to my noticing absurd things like; the use of the word "adorable" in every book, and the ridiculous number of times the word "peered" was used! LOL. All in all, though, I like the book and enjoy the series. I do recommend it.

Matchmaker meets her match!

Marguerite, the consummate matchmaker, finally meet her lifemate after enduring an awful, seemingly endless time with her now deceased husband. Obstacles on the path to true love make the story more interesting.

I really liked the story, but the narrator, with the terrible "Italian" accents almost made me switch to the ebook. Narrator didn't do much better with Marguerite's voice and worse with Tiny's voice, Story deserves 5 stars but performance prevents me giving it.

Margaret and Julius's story

I enjoyed the story of Margaret and Julius. i also liked to get a little closure on Jean Paul and what happened to him.

Great book but Victoria McGee could have done bett

I love Lynsay Sands books and this one is great. I love that it brought all the other characters together. However some of the voices Victoria McGee uses aren't great. She made Tiny sound like a toddler. It was very distracting.

Love it - my favorite so far from this series!

Marguerite has been one of my favorite characters in this series and so I was really looking forward to her story and it didn’t disappoint. The love story gave me all the feels and the twists in the plot had me shocked, sad, angry at times, and heartbroken for the characters. Of course, everything turned out okay in the end and overall I the plot was fitting for the head of the Argeneau crew.

As far as the performance - I know a lot of people dislike Victoria MaGee for the fake breathy voice, but overall I think she did a good job on this book and it didn’t bother me as much as it has in some other books. I will admit that some other stories that she’s narrated, her voice has driven me nuts and she’s by far not my favorite narrator - but at least in this one she limited the fake breathy voice to announcing the chapters and not so much in throughout the actual reading/ story telling.

Overall - loved this book and still loving this series this far in, so great job, Lyndsay Sands!

Not really a big fan of the narrator

I am a massive LS fan, I’ve read every single book and they’re all good, but unfortunately this narrator does several from the Argeneau series. There’s little inflection in her voice, not much difference in the characters, very little “accent” If the character has one. Just not a fan of Victoria McGee.
