The opportunity to tour Israel came at a good time. For months, my life has been a mindless plodding through necessary routine, as monotonous as an all-night shift on an assembly line. Life gets that way sometimes, when nothing specific is wrong but the world around us seems drained of color. My weekly worship experiences and daily quiet times with God have felt as dry and stale as last year's crackers. I'm ashamed to confess the malaise I've felt. I have been given so much. A great story without sex profanity or violence
What a struggle these three girls had. But nothing stopped them. I really enjoyed reading about the culture of the late 1890’s. How we have changed in 100 years

Love this book! Very worth the read/listen!
I loved the book, and did not want it to end... I wanted to follow their lives further. Maybe a sequel? 😃 The narrator seems quite a bit older that the characters, and it was so bit distracting. That said, she is a very good narrator with great inflection. I just feel that her voice was not right for these women.

The Story is Good
The story is good, as is anything that comes from Lynn Austin. However I struggled to enjoy the narration. The narrator made 16 year old Sophia sound like a 12 year old. Not necessarily the pitch of her voice, but the "attitude" behind it. The words she speaks did not have to be portrayed that way.

Slow start but rewarding by the end
A slow start, I honestly didn't like the characters at the beginning and almost gave up. I'm so glad I stuck with it, it ended up being a beautiful story!
