Publisher's summary

Lara Lington has always had an overactive imagination, but suddenly that imagination seems to be in overdrive. Normal professional twenty-something young women don’t get visited by ghosts. Or do they?

When the spirit of Lara’s great-aunt Sadie–a feisty, demanding girl with firm ideas about fashion, love, and the right way to dance–mysteriously appears, she has one last request: Lara must find a missing necklace that had been in Sadie’s possession for more than seventy-five years, and Sadie cannot rest without it. Lara, on the other hand, has a number of ongoing distractions. Her best friend and business partner has run off to Goa, her start-up company is floundering, and she’s just been dumped by the “perfect” man.

Sadie, however, could care less.

Lara and Sadie make a hilarious sparring duo, and at first it seems as though they have nothing in common. But as the mission to find Sadie’s necklace leads to intrigue and a new romance for Lara, these very different “twenties” girls learn some surprising truths from each other along the way. Written with all the irrepressible charm and humor that have made Sophie Kinsella’s books beloved by millions, Twenties Girl is also a deeply moving testament to the transcendent bonds of friendship and family.

Yet another great gift from Sophie kinsella

I have to admit I wasn't drawn to the book by its title, yet having read Sophie Kinsella's other work I knew I had to give it a chance, and I must say I wasn't dissapointed. The story was great, and I laughed and even cryed towards the end and as with every other Kinsella book I didn't want it to end!

Cute story!

It took me a couple hours to get into this story, but I really enjoyed it in the end. LOVE the narrator! I was kind of sad at the end! I would recommend it. A different type of story but very enjoyable!

Enjoyable

Would you listen to Twenties Girl again? Why?

probably not, I don't usually read books again unless it's been a long time and they are especially complicated and thought provoking.

What other book might you compare Twenties Girl to and why?

other books by the same author

What does Rosalyn Landor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

using the British accent adds a flavor you just don't get by reading on your own.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When it came time to say good bye to her great aunt.

Any additional comments?

I always enjoy hearing books by Sophie Kinsella. they are light, funny and easy to put down and pick up when I only have a short time to listen, but then I can't wait to see what happens next. The main character is always a little silly and light headed in matters of the heart but at the same time endearing and sweet. The Twenties Girl was especially thought provoking concerning family and the importance of having good relationships if you can.

Loved it!

Loved it! Rosalyn Landor is exceptional at all the different characters. I am not sure there Sophie Kinsella can write a story I don't like ! I became invested in the characters and became annoyed with the main character but that only made it more amazing when you start wanting to cheer her on. She is exceptional at character development.

My Favorite Sophie Kinsella

I have yet to meet a Sophie Kinsella novel I didn’t like. Her characters are always funny and relatable. The stories are well told and entertaining. But Twenties Girl is by far my favorite. I love the characters and especially the relationship between Sadie and Laura. I love the plot line and how everything is tied up so perfectly at the end with a beautiful message of the importance of family and heritage. I’ve read and listened to it many times and I always tear up. Tallyho!

Enjoyable romp

Laura is having a rough time: stuck in a failing business and abandoned by her boyfriend who she’s still emotionally attached. Her life becomes more problematic when Sadie, the ghost of her great aunt, tasks her with finding a lost necklace.

The ghost, who only Laura can see and hear, has taken the form of her younger self from the 1920s.

Sadie, the flippant flapper, is self-absorbed, opinionated, and somewhat shrill. She’s a difficult character to empathize with, but so is Laura, who’s meek and vacillating.

The book has a dry wit that dips into pathos. It was an OK, but needed an editing.

The audiobook is very well performed.
