Publisher's summary

Lara Lington has always had an overactive imagination, but suddenly that imagination seems to be in overdrive. Normal professional twenty-something young women don’t get visited by ghosts. Or do they?

When the spirit of Lara’s great-aunt Sadie–a feisty, demanding girl with firm ideas about fashion, love, and the right way to dance–mysteriously appears, she has one last request: Lara must find a missing necklace that had been in Sadie’s possession for more than seventy-five years, and Sadie cannot rest without it. Lara, on the other hand, has a number of ongoing distractions. Her best friend and business partner has run off to Goa, her start-up company is floundering, and she’s just been dumped by the “perfect” man.

Sadie, however, could care less.

Lara and Sadie make a hilarious sparring duo, and at first it seems as though they have nothing in common. But as the mission to find Sadie’s necklace leads to intrigue and a new romance for Lara, these very different “twenties” girls learn some surprising truths from each other along the way. Written with all the irrepressible charm and humor that have made Sophie Kinsella’s books beloved by millions, Twenties Girl is also a deeply moving testament to the transcendent bonds of friendship and family.

Silly but still good

You have to use your imagination on this one. It is a ridiculous premise and Sadie can be annoying, but it's still better than most of what's out there in this genre. Once you just "go with it" there are some laugh out loud funny parts and it's a sweet story. This isn't my favorite narrator either, I agree with another reviewer that I might have enjoyed reading this one more than listening. But overall it's a good, fun choice.

great

This was everything we like about Sophie Kinsella, fun, not too heavy but interesting. Believable characters and good narration make this worthy of your audible credit.

Wow! This was my favorite!

I have read at least 5 of Sophie's books, but this one left me laughing and crying.
I would love more like this.

Very light and funny

Very light and funny novel. I listened to it while cooking and enjoyed it a lot. Sophie Kinsella is great in light novels.

Eh

This book honestly annoyed me a lot...and often. While I did like certain parts of the plot (namely how Sadie's true life and identity, so to speak, unfolded), I found the whole ghost thing really ridiculous and annoying, and I felt like the book really stretched out a lot and was way too long. It was entertaining, but I wasn't jumping for joy or really engrossed in the plot (that "can't stop listening feeling") at any point. Overall just okay.

Very slow start...but worth sticking with it!

Ok, the way the story starts is awful and I almost put it down several times. But then it gets sooo good and ended up being one of my favorite Sophie Kinsella books!

Great! (And I'm Not Even Into Ghost Books)

Any additional comments?

I don't like books featuring ghosts, but I am a Sophie Kinsella fan, so I gave this book a try. I loved it!

I don't think the Publisher's Summary does it justice. It's not so much about a search for a necklace as it is about a career girl, recovering from a break up, who strikes up an unlikely friendship and gets a fresh perspective from an outsider on her own life. It's fun to see Lara grow and learn from this perspective, but the best part, as always with Kinsella, is the humor. What would you do if you had a friend who had special "powers"? Perform bar tricks, spy on your ex-boyfriend, find out what goes on in business meetings behind closed doors…awesome!

Also, I see some reviewers that were annoyed by the ghost's voice, but there were only 2-3 short scenes where the voice was screechy, and I found it funny, not annoying at all. Narrator is great!

Yet another great gift from Sophie kinsella

I have to admit I wasn't drawn to the book by its title, yet having read Sophie Kinsella's other work I knew I had to give it a chance, and I must say I wasn't dissapointed. The story was great, and I laughed and even cryed towards the end and as with every other Kinsella book I didn't want it to end!
