Publisher's summary

Lara Lington has always had an overactive imagination, but suddenly that imagination seems to be in overdrive. Normal professional twenty-something young women don’t get visited by ghosts. Or do they?

When the spirit of Lara’s great-aunt Sadie–a feisty, demanding girl with firm ideas about fashion, love, and the right way to dance–mysteriously appears, she has one last request: Lara must find a missing necklace that had been in Sadie’s possession for more than seventy-five years, and Sadie cannot rest without it. Lara, on the other hand, has a number of ongoing distractions. Her best friend and business partner has run off to Goa, her start-up company is floundering, and she’s just been dumped by the “perfect” man.

Sadie, however, could care less.

Lara and Sadie make a hilarious sparring duo, and at first it seems as though they have nothing in common. But as the mission to find Sadie’s necklace leads to intrigue and a new romance for Lara, these very different “twenties” girls learn some surprising truths from each other along the way. Written with all the irrepressible charm and humor that have made Sophie Kinsella’s books beloved by millions, Twenties Girl is also a deeply moving testament to the transcendent bonds of friendship and family.

A very far-fetched book but very entertaining!

I really liked that it was so different from the usual fluff. I took a chance on this and was not disappointed.
Light and entertaining. You will definitely need to relax and let your imagination take over. I found myself just sitting and listening which I seldom do. I just couldn't seem to get enough. Laura (Lara?) and Sadie act like sisters.
The performance was very good also. It is narrated by an English woman but her masculine voice is very believable. If your looking for a fiction unlike many of the others this book is for you.
I usually listen twice to each book. The second time after I've listened to one or two in between. It's amazing how much you miss the first time! This will definitely be listened to again. Some titles I've chosen, are not worth it, but this is.

❤️ Sophie K

This is the last of all of SK books I’ve had he pleasure of being acquainted with. I find it funny that many of the love interests turn out to be American. 🇺🇸

Her best book.

Worth all 14 hours. Not slow or drawn out. I love how the main character swings all in emotionally. For example: "If only stupid Hitler had a puppy to play with WW2 wouldn't have happened, and then no one would get married to someone they don't love just because there aren't enough single men who lived beyond 30 years. Then Sadie would be happy!" What a journey in a single thought. Reminds me of someone else's thought patterns.... oh yeah, ME! Best. Book. Ever.

Glad I Stayed With it!

Different from her usual books and it took awhile to liking it. It does; however, make for a casual read.

Light and fun

I love listening to Sophie Kinsella's books! They are so light and fun and entertaining, and Twenties Girl was no different. The storyline was cute and I really enjoyed the characters.

One of my go-to, favorite books!

While I love all of Sophie Kinsella's books, this is by far my favorite. Definitely an excellent story and an excellent listen!

Expected more...

Would you try another book from Sophie Kinsella and/or Rosalyn Landor?

Yes and I have read/listened to several Sophie Kinsella and Madeleine Wickham books that I really enjoyed.

Any additional comments?

I found that this book was not nearly as clever as other Sophia Kinsella books. I don't like it when intelligent characters do stupid, out-of-character things. I found the beginning of this story to be frustrating but it definitely got better in the latter portion of the book. Rosalyn Landor's performance was good and I have enjoyed all of the narrators of Sophie Kinsella's books.

Deeper than most Kinsella

I adore Sophie Kinsella, but I had put off Twenties Girl because it sounded like a more complex story than the sweet chick lit I'm looking for when I read her. I'm glad I finally did listen to this one; having a second heroine necessarily made the plot more complex than most of the meet-cute, happily-ever-afters I like. I did get--and stay--annoyed at the main character for not coming up with a way to talk to her aunt inconspicuously. If you're going to write a ghost, give the living a way to communicate with her without looking silly!
