Publisher's summary

TERRIFIED...

It was supposed to be a harmless camping trip. Six wayward teenagers who'd run into trouble with the law, and their court-appointed guardians, Sara and Martin Randhurst. Three nights on a small, deserted island off of Michigan's upper peninsula. A time to bond, to learn, to heal.

Then Martin told a campfire story about the island's history. Of the old civil war prison hidden in there, and the starving confederate soldiers who resorted to cannibalism to stay alive. Everyone thought it was funny. They even laughed when Martin pretended to be dragged off into the woods.

But Martin didn't come back. And neither did Sara when she went in search of him.

Then the laughter stopped.

...TO DEATH

The group soon began to realize that this deserted island wasn't so deserted after all. And perhaps Martin's ridiculous story had more truth to it than anyone thought.

What's the most horrifying thing you can imagine?

This is a hundred times worse...

TRAPPED by Jack Kilborn
It starts where other horror ends

A Word of Warning

This is the long-awaited follow-up to AFRAID, one of the most horrifying books ever written.

Originally scheduled to be released in paperback in 2010, the publisher read the first version of the manuscript and refused to release it. The author made extensive changes, rewriting much of the story. The publisher still refused.

This is a disturbing, terrifying book. You may think you're brave enough to handle it. But you're probably not...

WOW!!

This book, in the series, was very good. Gore, with some comedy and definitely could give you nightmares, but then why would you read something like this if you didn't want them!? The Narrator is the BEST! He can really make you feel the agony and terror of each person, just like you are there watching it happen. He is extremely talented.

Overall I enjoyed all the books in the series. Jack Kilborn/J.A. Konrath is an EXCELLENT author! If you are looking for something to keep you listening, this is the book, along with AFRAID. Another book to keep you on the edge of your seat. Just listened to them for the third time.... and I am sure, not the last.

Eh. Just eh.

This book was certainly a disappointment. I found myself not caring about the characters, mostly due to a lack of character development, especially near the beginning. Who lives? Who dies? Who cares?

It's definitely gory, but I love horror novels and gore doesn't bother me. I just couldn't wait for the book to be over. It's full of ridiculous events after ridiculous events. It's what I'd imagine listening to a book version of Friday the 13th, Part XXIV would be like. Ugh.

Another brilliant, horrific tale!

Trapped is exactly what you become as you listen to this nightmare thriller gone feral! Jack Kilborn's excellent story-telling technique coupled with his penchant for twists, turns and fascinating character detail will have you asking yourself what kind of human you are to willingly join him in this page-turning terror. His novel is expertly read by an amazing artist, Phil Gigante, who brings this vortex of violence and super-human strength to the brink of painful death and agonizing life. Let's just say I will never look at a nail, a fork, a blowtorch or a Woman in Blue the same way ever again!

Horribly scary, great writing

This book is amazing and so very very scary that you will not be able to forget it! The narration is great and the author is a talent that I want to read more books from.

Almost silly

Would you try another book from Jack Kilborn and J. A. Konrath and/or Phil Gigante?

Yes, but would probably wait to catch them on sale.

Would you be willing to try another one of Phil Gigante’s performances?

Yes, for the right story. The narration was good along with the number of distinct voices. It was just unfortunate that since this story has more than one black man in it, the go-to high pitched "sucka you gots to be clowning" type voice that everybody uses for black people got old real quick. I blame the narrator for that but paired with the stereotypical names... "Tyrone, Lakeisha and Meadowlark". It was just lazy. - Even the pervy guy's name was "Lester" as in Lester the Molester. --Haunted House was my intro to Jack Kilborn a couple of weeks ago and I liked it much more than this story.

Could you see Trapped being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No, not as is. There several major gaps in believability.

It was ok

There was a twist to plot. I just wasn't into camping on an island with no other people around. So it wasn't surprising things went wrong. The nature of problems was different. The ending scare was unbelievable and hard to see happening.

Another crazy Kilborn book!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes!

Any additional comments?

I loved Kilborn's book Endurance and Afraid wasn't too bad either. So figured I had to try this book. It is a creepy book just like the others. At times I wonder if I will be able to finish when the gore kept going, but always seem to manage. It's a crazy book and will definitely make you want to go camping lol!

One word : Cannibals

This story is pretty gross. Like slasher movie gross. Cannibals with knives & forks... oh yeah and salt shakers. The performance was good and there were a few unexpected twists. If you like your scares with a heavy dose of gore, then this book is for you.

Gory !!

If you could sum up Trapped in three words, what would they be?

Gory, funny, and unbelievable

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was when Tyrone and Cindy debated over who would get the gun from the campsite, this scene proved how much Cindy and Tyrone like each other

Any additional comments?

Love that Lester called Georgia "Georgia girl" lol
