Not if journalist Grace has anything to do with it. Grace knew Paddy a long time ago. But why can't she forget him? Grace's sister, Marnie, might have the answer but she also has issues with the past. Her family is wonderful but they can't take away memories of her first love: a certain Paddy de Courcy. What will it take for Marnie to be able to move on?
And what of the future Mrs de Courcy? Alicia is determined to be the perfect politician's wife. But does she know the real Paddy de Courcy?
Four very different women. One awfully charming man. And the dark secret that binds them all...

Absolutely amazing stuff. I could hardly believe how much I enjoyed this book. The narration was lively and enjoyable (adorable accents) and the story itself was brilliant. I really do enjoy Marian Keyes' portrayal of strong, smart and yet flawed women. I think that much of her brilliance lies in her ability to pull her reader in with humour, and then deliver her sucker punch. I also liked that it was a big fat long unabridged book - totally creditworthy! :)
Yes - I loved the characters and story
When Chloe turned up on Lola's doorstep
I love Caroline's delivery - she brings the quirkiness to light and is able to really bring the characters to life.
Lola - hilarious
Highly recommend this book.
Addicted to Audible.
I don't normally read a book twice but I would listen to this one!
I liked all the characters! They were all different and had their own really interesting personalities.
This is the second and last book I will read by Marion Keyes. Where does she find such stupid dopey women. Or is it because they are irish????? Recommended for people with no brain.
Not written it
Excellent reading of a dreadful book
Enough said I think
The story lost me after chapter one.
Seemed all over the place listened to,three chapters and gave up.
Narration not the best
Her books generally read better, but this one did not translate to audible at all. Quite a disappointment to say the least.
The narrator really brings the story to life, she is great.
There are many 'laugh out loud' moments that I really enjoyed, also many moments of discomfort as more difficult subjects are discussed. The narrator did a great job of them all.
Lots of the scenes that Lola is in. I like, "He's got his own look, and he's working it". Also loved Grace.
I am only a few hours into Lola's story, and I can't take it anymore! Love the way it is versed, and the narrator is fantastic, but I can't stomach one more screw-up by the character. Flawed is one thing, but predictable mishaps are another - and no pride at all! No male character would ever be written this way. Please, if it gets better, let me know!!! I have over 20 hours left on this book.
This book is a great listen. The writing really gets you involved in the characters, and leaves you wanting more. Marian takes you into some serious issues while keeping it light enough to not dishearten the reader. Fantastic!
"This Charming Man"
This is a brilliant book . Marian Keyes has incredible talent , her character descriptions are so detailed that for a long time after you finish reading the book you find yourself thinking of the people in her story , she makes them very real. The story keeps you guessing , very unpredictable , funny and worth while listening to.
"Keyes at her best!"
I'm an avid Keyes fan, and this book, in my opinion is one of her best! It's well narrated, and laugh out loud funny, but also has a 'keep you guessing' element. If you like Marion Keyes, then don't hesitate in getting this download!
"A really good read"
A really good story well thought out and well written. The characters are beautifully drawn and the writing is witty and humorous. Sometimes funny, sometimes pitiful, sometimes just downright sad, but always enjoyable. The narrator does a wonderful job too. I shall look out for more books by this author and can recommend this one wholeheartedly.
"I was not amused."
Oh dear this really didn't suit me at all. What a waste of money. Bits of it were interesting - but they were few and far between. I didn't like the diary style of writing, or at least not one that needed an entry every few minutes. The Marnie story was just plain boring. Perhaps I would have enjoyed an abridged version more, but I usually enjoy long books, and normally love Marian Keyes work which I find amusing and upbeat in the main. Apart from the diary, it was hard to see where Paddy fitted in. Altogether a depressing book. Not my sort of thing sadly.
dissapointed after all the hype. this book is 'everywhere'! but really not my kind of book i guess. not into this 'diary' style of writing. very light weight & 'fluffy'. a real 'chic' book. no substance. i choose long books to listen to as i drive a lot. but this one has failed to hold my attention & the reader's voice 'grates' some what. i dont even find it funny. though it would appear lots of people have. maybe this time i chose wrong!
"Another hit for Marian Keyes!"
I have read the book and listened to the audio book - I loved both.
My favourite character is Paddy - you have to love him to hate him!!
How can you choose this!! so unfair - the whole book was fantastic
I didn't cry but was close to it - probably because I had read it before listening
Anyone who loves Marian Keyes would love this book
"Marian Keyes at her best"
Getting an insight into the lives of the various characters in the book and the affect that Paddy DeCourcey had on them all.
Grace held the key to the whole story and brought all the characters together to get justice.
Caroline has a great accent and is able to adapt her tone to reflect different characters. She's been the voice behind several of Marian's books and never disappoints.
I'm a big fan of Marian Keyes and this is my favourite book so far.
"Worth bearing with it"
I very nearly gave up with this, I got really very confused at the first swap of character - I didn't find it clear and was wondering what on earth was going on. I went back and listened to the confusing section a few times and was still confused. I did keep going with it, more because I wanted to listen to something and I'd used my token on this. When I realised there was the swap of characters it suddenly got significantly better.
One of the other things which I wouldn't have stopped listening to for this point alone, but when I was lost with the story added to me nearly stopping, was one of the accents. One that was constantly skipping words in sentencing and was extremely grating. They were all Irish, which is fine, but the skipping words was a whole new story.
However, I kept going and I really enjoyed it. The story got gripping near the end but was entirely worth holding on for a waiting through. I hadn't read or heard anything from the author but it was done well and interesting.
I don't know as I havent read the print version
The interwoven characters and the way they all came together
She was a great orator and managed to portray each character with differentiation
"Lovely to listen to"
I liked this book. It handles a very serious problem very well. Reader was excellent
