"Another charming winner from the delightful Kinsella." (Booklist)
Its an weird thing but my favourite genre to read is murder/mystery books but when it comes to audio books, I love ChicLit! Odd I know!
Fun, light and easy
Just pick any other Sophie Kinsella/Madeline Wickham story (Shopaholic series, Twenties-Girl) - like a TV sitcom. Makes you laugh, easy to follow and you can pick the story up very quickly.
I did enjoy Phoebe James's performance - I do like the English narrators as these stories are so
The main character - Samantha Sweeting. The up and coming brilliant lawyer who makes the biggest mistake possible and in a haze of fog and in shock, flees the city and ends up working as a housekeeper to a slightly neurotic
Fun story for the light-hearted. A very enjoyable story - great for first timer's getting into Audobooks.
I enjoyed this book very much, very witty and kept my attention all the way through, its the first book I have read of Sophie Kinsella but it will not be the last
"Give the book a better chance"
An easy listen and quite a good story but spoilt by the reader! - so many times a good book is spoilt by the reader, I sometimes wonder how they get the job!
Very low maintenance book, with little brain power required, which was exactly what I was after. Funny, romantic. I really enjoyed it, the main Characters are a little unbelievable on occasions, but that's what makes a lot of the humour.
"'A THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE READ'"
I had previously only read the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella so thought I'd try one of her other books. I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end and would recommend it.
This was my first Sophie Kinsella and I enjoyed every minute of it. I found the legal story line very entertaining and well done. Being a former lawyer and now domestic goddess myself I can say that the author's version of that world is spot on. However all you need to enjoy this book is a sense of humour and a liking for a bit of romance. Gardening will never seem the same - you will have to listen to find out what I mean. I will definitely listen to more from this author.
Does this girl know nothing! She may be a hot shot lawyer but really. For all that I did enjoy it once I got over the standard 'things that go wrong' in a kitchen when you don't know nada! The mixed up washing etc etc..
"Could not put it down!"
Fun, entertaining, witty and utterly enjoyable. I listened to the whole book over the course of 2 days, despite having a busy schedule, just could not put it down!
The protagonist, Samantha.
What a waste of money! Utter rubbish! Started off well, but then descended into a series of "how to" cook a meal, clean a house etc. Boring, repetitive rubbish. What a waste of money.
Enjoyable premise but as a comedy insufficiently funny and as a semi-serious story insufficiently believable. Got bored.
"Laugh out loud easy listen"
Its humour. The opening scene alone had me laughing. There are some brilliant situations and you can't help but admire Samantha's tenacity and her willingness to give anything a go, simply because she expects she can do anything. There is something very admirable about her assuming she is capable of any task set to her.
There was a very touching moment where she bakes a cake for her elderly neighbour, whom she used to bicker with.
Her first attempt at cooking- there are some laugh out loud moments. Her disastrous first attempt soon turns into cookery lessons, which make for very soothing easy listening.
Swapping law for laundry isn't as easy as it seems...
