Lynn is an imprinter, one chosen by the Goddess to receive her greatest gift, that of creating new life. So why does she feel like a prisoner in the Temple?
When Lynn learns she is to be relocated to the temple at Landfall, the arduous journey seems more like a gift - her last chance to see something of the outside world. She does not anticipate the dangers and temptations she will encounter along the way, nor does she expect Lieutenant Kim Ramon, an officer in the squadron of Rangers assigned to protect her. Despite all prohibitions forbidding it, attraction grows between the two women.
Against them stand the powerful religious Sisterhood and their holy warriors - the Temple Guards. In a world ruled by the Church, what chance is there that Lynn can escape?

Such a great story

Characters were good, if not a bit clumsy in their development, with Kim having the best out of all.
The World Building felt to vague at some points and like the Characters... a bit clumsy in construction.
The back story had a similar concept to the Pillars of Reality Series by Jack Campbell.
The story itself was nothing like Pillars of Reality. Where Campbell berate you with one super tense scene and near impossible escape after another... Lynn and Kim have a far less dangerous and deadly adventure feeling almost like an innocent F/F teen novel... well almost... A fun story that however didn't have me looking for more.... Interesting but not unforgettable.

While I love this book it's not my favorite in the series. The series revolves around a planet that was colonized by people that fled the earth. Years have past, history lost and new beliefs have arisen. Its an all female and very religious society (how this happened is explained in the appendix). While there is romance in the story, I wouldn't say that's the main focus. The story focuses on the life of each of the two women. It furthers deals a lot with the planet's society, their beliefs and a rebel faction that has developed.
The narrator can make or break a book, I discovered this with the poor narration of Protector of the Realm by Gunn Brooke. The narrator had a pleasant voice, clear and easy to understand.
The recording does overlap in areas, which needs to be fixed, but didn't occur so much it took away from the story.
One of my favorite series...
