Publisher's summary

I live in a world without magic or miracles. A place where there are no clairvoyants or shapeshifters, no angels or superhuman boys to save you. A place where people die and music disintegrates and things suck. I am pressed so hard against the Earth by the weight of reality that some days I wonder how I am still able to lift my feet to walk.

Former piano prodigy Nastya Kashnikov wants two things: to get through high school without anyone learning about her past and to make the boy who took everything from her - her identity, her spirit, her will to live - pay.

Josh Bennett’s story is no secret: Every person he loves has been taken from his life until, at 17 years old, there is no one left. Now all he wants is be left alone and people allow it because when your name is synonymous with death, everyone tends to give you your space.

Everyone except Nastya, the mysterious new girl at school who starts showing up and won’t go away until she’s insinuated herself into every aspect of his life. But the more he gets to know her, the more of an enigma she becomes. As their relationship intensifies and the unanswered questions begin to pile up, he starts to wonder if he will ever learn the secrets she’s been hiding - or if he even wants to.

The Sea of Tranquility is a rich, intense, and brilliantly imagined story about a lonely boy, an emotionally fragile girl, and the miracle of second chances.

Not Bad

This book has substance albeit towards the dark side of life and it's unpredictability. Throw in some teenage angst and this is enjoyable.

My favorite book in 2013

I’m not someone who would really know a well written book if it bit me on the ear, but what I can tell you is that this one touched me to my very soul. This story broke me apart in so many pieces and then very carefully and slowly put me back together again. It is so beautifully written that it hurts. Yes, this is a book in the YA genre but it is so much more than the typical teen drama/romance novel. It is deep, it is raw and it will stick with you long after the story has ended. This is not a happy or sad story, but one of hope, healing and second chances.

I’m giving this one 10 stars for the brilliant narration and for the complex beauty of this well-written gem of a book.

Engrossing and well-done angsty teen novel!

There are teen novels and then again, there are teen novels. Some I find merely geared to teenage girls and others appeal to a wide variety of ages, like this one. This book held me captive for two days. I felt like an interloper in an intense relationship and I just had to know how it turned out.

We have two very emotionally damaged teens who meet in their last year of high school. They are attracted to each other even before they even realize it. However, their life histories prevent them from acknowledging their real feelings toward one another. Their individual histories are so devastating that they may not even be able to experience or recognize true feelings. This is the story of their relationship with each other and also with their friends. It has mature subject material and would most likely not be appropriate for younger teens.

I found the characters in this story to be well-developed, interesting, and believable. I found the ending to be very well done . The narrators are both excellent. They are extremely convincing--it felt like they were the actual characters they were "playing." If you like YA literature and emotionally intense novels, The Sea of Tranquility is for you!

This is my 2nd time listening to this audio and when I started I only remembered that I really liked it the first time so this was like listening for the first time all over again and this time I loved it even more.
This book was powerful in that of healing, loving and moving forward! I really liked how different all the characters were from each other and especially the way the relationship between Josh & Nastya began and formed without even conversations. They just seemed to get each other from the beginning and that melted my heart. It was like they were magnets and were drawn to each other. This book had a lot of great side characters that help make it as great as it was! I would love a book for Drew and seeing him grow! I also loved the explanation of the name of this book too!

The narration was perfect. I love both these narrators and this is exactly how this book needed to sound!

Hope with help.

Heart tugging and hopeful. Spoilers- I appreciated the unconditional support of Josh along with the knowledge that he knew she needed more. As a mother of a teenager, Į recognize that teens seek to hold each other up, but even as adults we aren’t always equipped to heal another.

The author has an entertaining, witty, and sarcastic voice and pulls you expertly into an insightful and emotional journey. Į can’t wait to read more of her work.

Excellent narration too!
