Publisher's summary

When Gia Montgomery's boyfriend, Bradley, dumps her in the parking lot of her high school prom, she decides to do the unthinkable...convince the cute guy waiting to pick up his sister to pretend to be her boyfriend for the night. The task is simple: two hours, zero commitment, a few white lies.

The problem is that days after prom, she can't stop thinking about her fill-in boyfriend. But can Gia turn her fake boyfriend into a real one without exposing her lie and possibly destroying her friendships and her newfound relationship?

Smartly observed and wonderfully romantic, Kasie West's talent shines in this tale of one girl's unexpected quest to find love...and possibly herself.

Love the story!

I truly enjoyed this story! The narrator for audible is not one of my favorites, but she did a good job. Definitely worth the read (or listen)!

Teen matures emotionally

Narrator is very good. I chose this book because I really liked another book by same author and same narrator. Fill-in Boyfriend is about a high school student body president, snobby and sticking to her clique, soon to graduate high school. The main weakness of the story is I did not have much sympathy for the main character. Also I did not relate to the southern California lifestyle, where teens drive their cars to school, party at the beach, and go out to lunch. But this is a good cautionary story about knowing who is really your friend and getting away from so-called friends who are not really.

A really good story :)

The plot was really interesting and brought up issues I wasn’t expecting. Of the 5 Kasie west books I’ve read, this might be my favorite.

I <3 this book!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Fill-in Boyfriend to be better than the print version?

I have not read the the print edition - but I liked the book and in general I feel that the audio version just add a little something, and leave no confusion as to intonation or intent.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Fill-in Boyfriend?

I really favored the evolving relationship between the lead character and the object of her desire's younger sister.

What does Shannon McManus bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She was an excellent choice to narrate this book, and she really brings a certain realness - a definite human element, and reinforces the youthfulness of the main character - and clarity to her emotions.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was a feel good story, you really wanted things to work out for the main character - and sometimes you wanted to shake her and ask her why some things were such a big deal.... I definitely felt a strong dislike for her "frienemy"

Any additional comments?

Definitely worth the listen! whether a credit or a purchase, I would definitely recommend this book:)
