Publisher's Summary

The unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of The Rosie Effect, by Graeme Simsion. With the Wife Project complete, Don settles happily into a new job and married life in New York. But it's not long before certain events are taken out of his control and it's time to embark on a new project . . .As Don tries to get to grips with the requirements of starting a family, his unusual research style soon gets him into trouble. To make matters more difficult, Don has invited his closest friend to stay with them, but Gene is not exactly a prime example of marital happiness, and as his life with Rosie continues to be unpredictable Don needs to remember that emotional support is just as important as his practical expertise.

    "Fun, different and intelligent!"
What made the experience of listening to The Rosie Effect the most enjoyable?

I had already listened to The Rosie Project, to which this book is a sequel. The two books are lovely reading/listening. I recommend reading them in order. As a Psychologist myself, I love how intelligently written all of the characters are and especially Don, with his Aspergers symptoms. It is successful in being both funny and poignant. It is a light, easy read, but certainly not superficial, forgettable fiction.

Which character – as performed by Dan O'Grady – was your favourite?

    Don Tilman.

    "Just Amazing"
What did you like most about The Rosie Effect?

After reading all of the reviews I knew it would be good but I did not realise how good it would be. The character interaction between Rosie and Don was so believable and made me laugh out loud and cry.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Rosie Effect?

I loved the idea of Don being treated like a rock star being fast tracked through the airport and who could forget the ice cream incident.

Which character – as performed by Dan O'Grady – was your favourite?

It has to be Don. Just an amazing character, even though he is annoying as hell you just want him to succeed.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Definitely.

    "Good"

This sequel perhaps lacks the surprise element of The Rosie Project, and it may be a little more overtly didactic, but I enjoyed it just the same. There are some very funny bits. The narration is just right.

    "ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK"
Would you consider the audio edition of The Rosie Effect to be better than the print version?

The narrator of this audio book is excellent, but I would enjoy the written book equally as well. I loved the first Rosie novel and was not disappointed in this one

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Would be difficult to point out any particular scene, there were so many laugh out loud moments. Schene where Don is watching the children at play, although with an obvious outcome, was priceless.

    Any additional comments?

Graeme Simsion has done it again. Yet another joyful book. Hated getting to the end of it, but couldn't wait to hear more.

    "The best audiobook yet!"

I loved the Rosie Project and wasn't expecting the sequel to match it but I surpassed expectations. Laugh out loud good and even shed a little tear.
The two books will be my no.1 recommendations to any other audio book listener. Brilliant.

"How New York copes with Don"

Don continues to navigate the complexities of his daily life equipped with the brain of a brilliant scientist but hampered by a very quirky emotional intelligence receptor. Although he now has the beautiful Rosie as his wife, his hold on happiness is precarious and after a series of unfortunate events he finds himself in danger of losing it all.

Just like the first book this is hilarious and poignant in equal measure. On top of this, some of the discussions between Don and his scientist friend Gene about the relationship between nature and nurture are very thought provoking, and so this is so much more than a simple knockabout comedy. Dan O’Grady narrates Don’s story again and makes this the perfect way to enjoy this wonderful addition to the Rosie series.

Most follow up books are a pale shadow of the original, but this one is an exception and is a triumphant return of one of the most delightful characters in fiction. I do very much hope that Graeme Simsion has another Don Tillman book up his sleeve.

    Any additional comments?

Don remains the same likeable character who struggles with ordinary life and the writing style allows you to predict the usually very funny consequences of his chosen actions. If you liked the Rosie Project you will love this.

A worthy successor to the Rosie Project. Does not disappoint as sequels so often do. Also stays true to the characters. Very enjoyable.
