Someone who has plenty of time to read might find this book enjoyable, I found it confusing the way it jumped around from person to person. I read while I'm on public transport and have to stop when I get to my destination and quite often found it hard to pick up again. If I just had time to sit and read at my leisure I may have been able to follow more easily.
I've just ordered a Bryce Courtney book - Fortune Cookie.
Yes I would, I didn't have a problem with the narration.
Not really, it was quite predictable. Everyone fitted into their slots at the end a little too tidily.
I have read several Marian Keyes books and have enjoyed them and will try her again.
I loved this story. The Dublin mother & father were so very real. It was a very predictable plot but just the same, it was a pleasure to listen to. I couldn't wait to listen to it but I never wanted it to end.
Normally I get very irritated with switching back and forth between characters, but not with this one. It was clearly announced that you were about to change characters, which helps, and whats more I liked all of them fairly well, but especially Jojo. So thoroughly enjoyable, and what a shanannigans (how do you spell that?) is life in the publishing world!
"Trite and stereotyped rubbish!"
The characters are ridiculous i.e. JoJo having an affair with a married man, a curvy woman with appetites, clever, witty, brilliant at her job, admired and liked by women, desired and admired by men - really!!
Childish, silly, simplistic morality. What goes around comes around etc.
I didn't finish this book, it was ridiculous, unfunny and the characters were one dimensional, unrealistic bores.
I've read other Marian Keyes book and they were quite funny and light, this is just tedious, I couldn't listen to anymore of the perfect Jojo.
Characters, story, simplistic morality.
Boredom and amazement that this passed as a good read.
"A really good listen!"
This is the first Marian Keyes book that I have listened to. I was a bit wary at 15 CD's to burn but I have to say by the end of the book, I really didn't want it to end! The narrator was fantastic! I really liked all of the characters in the book and it was a real pleasure to sit and listen whilst on long trips in the car! The characters were believeable and the book was funny, emotional and brilliant all at the same time. I will be getting more Marian books in the near future, especially if Geri Hallighan is reading them! I can reccomend!
