Publisher's summary

A “sharp and funny romantic tale” (O, the Oprah Magazine) from the number one New York Times best-selling author of Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers and Apples Never Fall.

Ellen O’Farrell is a professional hypnotherapist who works out of the eccentric beachfront home she inherited from her grandparents. It’s a nice life, except for her tumultuous relationship history. She’s stoic about it, but at this point, Ellen wouldn’t mind a lasting one. When she meets Patrick, she’s optimistic. He’s attractive, single, employed, and best of all, he seems to like her back. Then comes that dreaded moment: He thinks they should have a talk.

Braced for the worst, Ellen is pleasantly surprised. It turns out that Patrick’s ex-girlfriend is stalking him. Ellen thinks, actually, that’s kind of interesting. She’s dating someone worth stalking. She’s intrigued by the woman’s motives. In fact, she’d even love to meet her.

Ellen doesn’t know it, but she already has.

Great story!

This was yet another example of why I should not believe other people's reviews! I almost didn't choose this book, because of some of the reviews that said this wasn't Moriarty's best effort. I loved this book, and actually I do think it was one of her best! The telling of the story from the different perspectives of Ellen, Saskia and Patrick really made me think about each of their positions in the story of their lives. As always, Moriarty really developed the characters well, even the incidental characters are people with depth. This book really made me consider how close we all are to the edge between "normal" and a little unhinged. I highly recommend this book. Wonderful narration!

Stalking in Sydney

This was surprisingly good—I liked it much better than The Husband’s Secret. The characters were very relatable—even the crazy one!
About the recording—it would have been better if you had two different readers for Ellen and Saskia. I sometimes didn’t know whose head I was in. Her reading was fine, just not enough differentiation between the two characters.

Great story with both points of view

Love how the story is written in a back and forth way between the two points of view. Ending seemed "easy" yet a bit of a twist. Great story and reading of the story.

Good book

This was a very good book. It made you think. Made you feel for each character. It had a few little twists and turns but was mainly about feelings. I would read another book by this author. (This was the first one I’d read by this author.)

So Good

I love all of Liane Moriarty's books. As usual, she goes from one character to another, so you always want to know more, and never get bored. Their lives intertwine and everything is pieced together in the end.

Storyline was flat

If I was reading this (opposed to an audiobook), I don't think I would have gotten through it. I've read other titles by this author and have enjoyed it, but this just fell flat. there was no major plot ot twist. From an audio perspective, there was no differentiation between characters, so it was a bit confusing at times. I wouldn't recommend this to a friend.

JUST OK

I love this author and have listened to several of her books. I did not like the narration on this one. I could not tell the difference between the voice of Ellen and the ex-girlfriend. Other than that it was enjoyable.

Good entertainment

I like Lane Moriarty 's work very much and this story was a good one for sure. I like that her books are about what could easily be real people.

Gripping, twisted, couldn’t put it down!

The author expertly weaves the stories of multiple women and their families together. She delves into real issues....however the story is equal parts mysterious, funny, sad, and ultimately joyful!
