Publisher's summary

"My darling Cecilia, if you’re reading this, then I’ve died...."

Imagine that your husband wrote you a letter, to be opened after his death. Imagine, too, that the letter contains his deepest, darkest secret - something with the potential to destroy not just the life you built together, but the lives of others as well. Imagine, then, that you stumble across that letter while your husband is still very much alive....

Cecilia Fitzpatrick has achieved it all - she's an incredibly successful businesswoman, a pillar of her small community, and a devoted wife and mother. Her life is as orderly and spotless as her home. But that letter is about to change everything, and not just for her: Rachel and Tess barely know Cecilia - or each other - but they too are about to feel the earth-shattering repercussions of her husband’s secret.

Acclaimed author Liane Moriarty has written a gripping, thought-provoking novel about how well it is really possible to know our spouses - and, ultimately, ourselves.

Not exciting it was an ok story. It was kinda flat, I was waiting for more. I don't know if I'd say it's a must

Even When You Think You Know, You Don't

Would you consider the audio edition of The Husband's Secret to be better than the print version?

Yes, the characters came alive for me and I thoroughly enjoyed all the different Australian accents and characters.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was Cecilia Fitzpatrick, because I could identify with her and her quest to be the perfect wife and mother.

What does Caroline Lee bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The Australian accents brought the setting alive. This book could have been set in New York or Orange County, CA, but it was set in Sydney, for the most part, and I would not have enjoyed the local flavor nearly so much without the Aussie overtones.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I usually listen to audio books while I exercise or clean the house. I feel very fit and the floors are sparkling!

Any additional comments?

This book makes you realize that you never really know anything, and yet you make life altering decisions based on "facts" that may be erroneous. How many times have I made the same mistakes as most of the characters in this book?

What did you like about this audiobook?

Good story, held my attention. Great to see how these different stories intertwined. The narrator was the best part! Loved her voice and the subtle changes she made for each character. Perfect. Great summer read.

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

Nothing.

Slow Start

Rough start. Takes too long to get going. If you can stick in there, it's an OK book.

3x 5 stars!

Liane Moriarty has a lot of characters in her books. I easily put them all in order in my head. This was going to be a light listen but turned into some thought-provoking sessions about, "What would I do?" Especially loved the Epilogue!

Kept me on the edge of my seat

This story really took me by surprise. I really enjoyed this book. It didn’t go as I suspected it would which I enjoyed. The narrator does a wonderful job reading Liane’s books.

The Husband's Secret

What did you like best about The Husband's Secret? What did you like least?

After many chapters of finally getting into the audio I enjoyed the stories of all the families and how they intertwined. There was a surprise of who killed Rachel and I found it to be well written.

I did not like the narration.

What other book might you compare The Husband's Secret to and why?

I can't compare to another book.

What three words best describe Caroline Lee’s performance?

Not fond of narration

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Yes

Any additional comments?

It took too many chapters to get into the book. Had it not been audio I might have not read. Once I got to the middle it was interesting then I wanted to keep listening and wanted the author to go on more with the book. It has potential for a series. The epilogue was superb!
