Publisher's summary

In the emotional aftermath of her baby's sudden death, Em starts running. Soon she runs from her husband, to the airport, down to the Florida Gulf, and out to the loneliest stretch of Vermillion Key, where her father has offered the use of a conch shack he has kept there for years. Em keeps up her running - barefoot on the beach, sneakers on the road - and sees virtually no one.

This is doing her all kinds of good, until one day she makes the mistake of looking into the driveway of a man named Pickering. Pickering also enjoys the privacy of Vermillion Key, but the young women he brings there suffer the consequences. Will Em be next?

Running the beach in Naples is never this exciting

...thank goodness. Pithy action with a proper hero. Goony serial killer gives chase. Great listen

On the Edge of the IPOD.

This heart pounding thriller which the is also located in the Florida keys (read Duma Key) kept me on the waiting until the end. My wife loved because it is so short.
So short attention span people and ADD people rejoice, this is the book for you!

Pretty good. Not what I expected.

I have been on a "King kick" lately. I am not necessarily a fan of horror, but Mr. King creates characters who are not only realistic, but corporeal. I read his books for his characters. This story was no different.
There were not ghouls or goblins in the sense of many of his other novels, but this one was still suspenseful. The human ghoul came out of nowhere, and I couldn't stop until I found what became of the Gingerbread Girl.
I also recommend Duma Key and Lisey's Story.

Gingerbread Girl

A nice straight forward drama, not the usual King build up or draw out. If I didn't know it was a King story to begin with I might think it belonged to someone else.

I have to wonder if he didn't just spend a length of time in the Florida keys since this is the second book that takes place there.

Well worth the read.

#shortreadgreatstory

Again, Mr. King creates an engrossing story. Although it could have been a novella, he's ticked all tbe expectex boxes with only 5-6 characters in this short but complete short story. I enjoyed the use of a nursery rhyme for the title; apropos.
Mare Winningham's narration was spot on.

5 Star

Awesome story. Thrilling keeps you on the edge. Its a short story, but that's ok. This story packs a Lot of Suspense in a short time. The beginning of the story shows a sad time for the main character, her baby dies. She and her husband separate.
You bond with her and want good things for her.
But when she goes to the Florida keys for alone time. Things turn very Bad.
The suspense and crazyness are very intense. The ending is a Shocker.....
Narrator was Great. Steven King is Awesome.
Hope my review was helpful...

Excellent - another winner to read

Would you listen to The Gingerbread Girl again? Why?

Was very good, plot kept me intrigued and at edge of my seat the entire time. Just when you may think King is becoming a snore to read he comes out with another brilliant read.
