Following her best-selling debut novel Come Away with Me, Karma Brown returns with an unforgettable story that explores the intricate dynamics of friendship and parenthood.
Hannah and Kate became friends in the fifth grade, when Hannah hit a boy for looking up Kate's skirt with a mirror.
While they've been close as sisters ever since, Hannah can't help but feel envious of the little family Kate and her husband, David, have created - complete with two perfect little girls. She and Ben have been trying for years to have a baby, so when they receive the news that she will likely never get pregnant, Hannah's heartbreak is overwhelming. But just as they begin to tentatively explore the other options, it's Kate's turn to do the rescuing. Not only does she offer to be Hannah's surrogate, but Kate is willing to use her own eggs to do so.
Full of renewed hope, excitement, and gratitude, these two families embark on an incredible journey toward parenthood...until a devastating tragedy puts everything these women have worked toward at risk of falling apart. Poignant and refreshingly honest, The Choices We Make is a powerful tale of an incredible friendship and the risks we take to make our dreams come true.

"She's the female Nicholas Sparks." (Redbook)
I really liked the story line, was very real and timely to recent news as of late. Loved the narration, characters were great! Just a good book. Very quick listen.
Beautifully performed and exquisitely written! There is tragedy, hope and breathtaking love in this story!
The main character, Hannah, is so moody, self-righteous, and bitchy, that it's really difficult to root for her as the story progresses. She has several tantrums throughout the story, never stopping to consider the consequences of her actions (much like a toddler). While the premise of the story is good, I can't recommend this book because of the main character. I had zero sympathy for Hannah and I found myself wishing she would pull herself together, act like an adult, and stop treating people so poorly.
I found the two main characters to be whiny and annoying. I did something that I have never done before and that is fast forwarded to the end. The ending was the only redeeming quality of this book.
This was a great book about love and friendship. The ending was not what I expected, but it was good. Kept me on the edge of my seat and was an emotional roller coaster. I highly recommend.
First of all the narrator needed to blow her nose. Second this book gave me a headache I found it difficult to Finnish. because book was full of sadness and fighting and loss. That's a lot for one book.
so I fast forwarded through 4 chapters.
and at last when I did manage to finnish. I was drained emotionally. I read books to escape. This book just agitated me so much bacause of all of heavy muddy feelings, let's not talk about the wining and lieing and hiding true feelings. Sorry to say I don't think that I will listen to any other books from this author.
To be fair I have tried 4 others and all but 1 left me feeling lost.
