Tucked away in a remote corner of North Carolina's Fort Bragg, behind rows of razor wire and heavily armed guards, lies the headquarters of the nation's most elite counter-terrorism unit: the United States Army's 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment Delta. Here, a brilliant new approach to combating terrorism has just been born. Its codename: The Athena Project.

Brad Thor's listeners will be electrified as he employs his vast knowledge of covert operations and military intrigue to bring to life his most heart-pounding, globe-trotting thrillers yet.

Missing Scot Harvath

It does not feel the same to me when "Amazonian Women" do the dirty work Scot Harvath used to do. Some of the torture was already hard to swallow under Scot but when women do it does create another level of sour taste to me. That aspect aside I always like the mystic or science element and the story behind the story in Brad Thors books and I read many of them.

Charlie's Angels

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

This book was probably my least favorite amongst Brad Thor's work. I enjoyed most of the Scott Harvath series and found them a little more serious and believable.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It was pretty predictable.

Any additional comments?

This book read too much like a "Charlie's Angles" movie. The dialogue between the female operators on the team felt too cliche' and made it feel more like a teenage drama half of the time. Not believable that trained operatives would have that much catty talk but what do I know.

A Man's Story About Women Warriors

Would you listen to The Athena Project again? Why?

I rarely read the same book twice, but I will read more Athena Project books.

Would you be willing to try another book from Brad Thor? Why or why not?

Yes! I am a big fan of Brad Thor. He's a great teacher of world politics as the backdrop for exciting stories.

What does Elizabeth Marvel bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Ms. Marvel keeps the characters distinct, the energy level up, and the story moving. I could listen to her and do other work with my hands without losing track of the story.

Who was the most memorable character of The Athena Project and why?

Cooper. She was more like the women warriors I've known, less concerned with looks than with her mission. Accepting that manipulating men by looking good is part of the mission is not easy for her.

Any additional comments?

It's tough for a man to write from a woman's point of view. I applaud Brad Thor for doing it as well as he did, but he does male characters better. He inspired me to think deeply about what ordinary people can do to resist the unsavory changes happening in our culture and government. We all have innate gifts, valuable skillsets and much-needed resources to contribute.

Great story, interesting characters, entertaining

I enjoyed reading about the interesting group of characters. The author did a great job with character development. The narrator did a good job with the recording. I look forward to reading more in this series. The book was DEFINITELY with the credit used to download the story.

not one of his better stories.

this was not a Scot harvath story. That was my own fault for not reading the description before buying it. The beginning is not that great either. The interactions between the women are not terribly believable. However the second half of the book does pick up so it was not a complete loss.

Great team!

I really enjoyed this book. The all female team was a different twist, and the female narrator did a great job. Hope to
see more of this team!

Thin and unsatisfying plot ending and characters I

No. There just wasn't enough to be good. My first Thor. Sorry it was so weak. Save your credit. Hump

Witty and entertaining

With enough action to put the best thrillers to shame, it has plenty of wit and snark to make the most hardened of veterans chuckle, thinking “that’s about right…” My wife even enjoyed it, with its powerful female characters. Hope another pops up soon.

Great operators regardless of the sex…

This is a fast paced true to life novel, that gives a glimpse of what it is like to balance on the edge of the blade! While staying in the fight, staying focused, trained up- mind, body, and spirit, while keeping it real and funny! Mr. Thor, thank you for another great book!👍🏾

Excellent

This was a surprising and entertaining story. The ladies’ focus on sex was a bit over the top.
