I AM LEGALLY BLIND AND ENJOY LISTENING TO STORIES OF FAITH, HISTORICAL CHRISTIAN NOVELS, AND BOOKS WITHOUT SWEARING ESP. USING GODS NAME
WHAT AN EXCITING BOOK. IT GIVES US A GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF THI S ERA IN JEWISH HISTORY AND ITS KING AND PROPHET. THE AUTHOR HAS DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH AND USED PERTINENT SCRIPTURE WHICH IS SO APPLICABLE TO THE STORY LINE. IT WAS A BOOK THAT WAS HARD TO PUT DOWN - EXCITING, SCRIPTURAL, AND INSPIRATIONAL FOR OUR DAY.
I have already recommended it to many friends for it's terrific message and historical/biblical accuracy.
The character development is superb.
There were some flaws in the recording, and rough chapter transitions in this recording that I did not hear in the first two. Hopefully this was just a recording anomaly
This book made me laugh, and it made me cry - it was a very realistic account of the time and the situations with real characters. The people of this story come alive and are very relate-able . As a book about faith in God during trying times, it was easy to identify with each character's struggle to believe and to act and live according to that belief.
As I said in my reviews of Gods and Kings and Song of Redemption, this book is also a good read for guys as well as for the ladies. I have read the first 3 books in this series, and I have found all three to be well written and very engaging. You won't get bored by these books; that is for sure!
It is such a fun way to learn so much about Bible history. I learned things I never knew before and enjoyed it all the while. There are 5 in this series and I loved each!
I enjoy reading Lynn Austin's historical fiction. Her books oh the Civil are awesome as well.
This wonderful book helped me understand the bible story and made me hungry of more of God's Word! Lynn Austin has an awesome way of threading the scripture in a method that helps you understand what is happening and makes you feel as though you are living through them instead of just listening to them. I will listen to this series over and over; as it caused me a desire to delve into God's Word for myself!
Words spoken in season is like a fresh rain.
Absolutely! The message in this book is so pertinent for us today about Yahweh's love for us and that it is His plan for our lives.
The first two books of The Chronicles of the Kings, but they all relate with an incredible message of love and forgiveness.
Hezekiah and Eliakim. Sheba was good too.
Yes. First, the love, grace and power of Yahweh. Second, the incredible commit of the prophet Isaiah to speak the word of the Lord; and Third, I love and forgiveness (through all the pain) that was so clear throughout the book .
A well written book that makes it such an incredible read. This book spoke to me on so many levels. I wept, became angry, I was moved then I cried again. Phew! so many emotions. But, all in all, the message of forgiveness herald through the pages of this book; it was as the battering ram that struck the walls of Jerusalem. We all need to hug Lynn Austin and thank her. :)
This is the third book I have finished. I have to get my Bible and check out the story line. I am surprised at the skill the author has used to write the story and stay so true to the Word of God!
I enjoy the Classics and books about Christians and Church history. I also like books about the Civil War. My other hobby is knitting.
These biblical fiction books are excellent. If you know the Old Testament, these books really bring those historical scenes to life. I plan to read them all!
