Publisher's summary

Lynne Austin has won three Christy Awards for her inspiring historical novels, which include Candle in the Darkness.

The second book in her Chronicles of the Kings series, Song of Redemption, is a retelling of the life of Hezekiah, King of Judah from 716 to 687 BC. After years of idolatry, Judah's temple has been cleansed and Hezekiah has brought God's law back to his people. But when he incurs the wrath of the barbaric Assyrians, he will need help from a surprising source.

A captivating and creative retelling of historical events

Inspiring, Intriguing, Motivating, Provoking, Suspenseful, & Empowering all rolled up into one authentic rendition. Multiple characters resonated with me at different points in the story. This piece made my hour long commute home from work something to anticipate. Good narration too. Thanks Lynn Austin!

The Fire Will Not Touch You

Hezekiah was spared from the sacrifice to Molech.
Leviticus 18:21: “And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thou God: I am the LORD.”
The Word from the prophet said even if Hezekiah pass through the fire, he would not be touched.
He was not ready to be king but the day of his coronation, Micah a young prophet, revealed this secret that Zechariah, the king’s grandfather, had been a prisoner under Uriah’s orders. His faith in God was revived and the nation was radically turned from idol worship and sang The Song of Redemption as Hezekiah bravely waited on the Lord. God heard the prayer for confession of pride, idol worship, arrogance, not believing, and honored the young kings prayer to serve, as a nation, YHWH only as God.
A renewal of faith by seeking God’s will and waiting on His mighty hand to move the obstacles and save his people from the enemy is an excellent blessing from this story of struggles for today.

Worthy Read

I so appreciated how the story includes lots of scripture and how it was added at key points in the story.
This book brings the history of Israel & Judah to life & brings out pertinent life lessons for believers, such as "no compromise ".

My husband & I highly recommend it for readers 12 and up.

Great way to learn about the New Testament

I’ve always struggled with reading the New Testament and these books have been great and very intriguing. I’d recommend to anyone who loves God and wants to hear about his amazing works.

Only one thing...

The only thing I didn't care for too much is the narrator's voices for the men -- rather irritating.
But wonderful to have these Old Testament figures come to life in very plausible ways. Really well done, Lynn Austin! Can't wait to start the next one!
