When I decide to listen to a book I want to get to know the characters. It is so frustrating if the narration isn't well done. I'm shocked anyone could get thru this book due to this alone. Too bad, great story but the high pitched, screechy, whiny voice of main character made me turn it off. I never prefer a movie over a book except with this since I didn't get to listen to book. Waste of money for me. I like Emily Giffin as an author, simple stories, easy reads that flow well.
I loved this book!! Really!!! I have listened the Love the One Your With by the same author. That book would sometimes go on and on. I was afraid this one would too. But no, the author kept you entertained. It really took a long time to decide if this was something I wanted to listen to because of the subject matter- people cheating. I am not into cheating, but this was from a different point of view. This book was really entertaining. I normally listen to chick lit- faves are Stackhouse stories, Twilight, and Sophie Kinsella. So- if that's your style, you may like this too!! I hope so. I am now going to listen to the follow up story just to see what happens next.
I enjoyed this book and it did keep my attention, I got through it very quickly. The narrator was good and the story line very believable. Even though all the people in the book were very believable as real life they all seemed to annoy me. I found that I only liked about three people in the book and none of them were main players. Normally you relate most with the narrator telling the story but this time I could not relate well with any of them. This was still a good book and I will be getting more Emily Giffin books, I enjoy her writing style and story even if all the main people drove me crazy in this book.
This book is mildly entertaining, but the characters are not at all likeable. The heroine is completely pathetic. The hero is even worse.
