Soon Reid finds himself in the fight of his life...winning Lucie's heart before she gives it to someone else.

The story itself is good if you are an avid romance reader.
Her voice sounds monotone and did not come across as someone that was excited to read story. Very little emotion in the acting.
I started this book and I have to say the story held my interest but the narrator did not. It's a light fun read and I thought the characters were pretty relevant with fun dialogue.
However, by the third chapter I was involved in the story but could not take the narrator anymore. Fielding reads with such little emotion that I found myself drifting off and having to rewind over and over. If I wasn't rewinding I was falling asleep.
So, I actually downloaded the kindle version and finished reading it on my own. It was cute and I'm glad I did especially because at the end there is an excerpt of the second book that continues another story of Vanessa and Jax (secondary characters in the first book-- "Rules of Entanglement "). That book was actually really good. I liked it even more.
I recommend to read!
I love a book that can hold my attention until the very end and boy did this do it for me. The story and narration were spot on, and i recommended this book to friends already.
I loved the story, but the narration was OK, and there was some kind of back ground going on...it was SO distracting!! Drove me nutso, and so took away from the book, which was too bad because it's an excellent book.
Come on, first, don't want to listen to the narrator again, please! Just couldn't get pass her monotone voice. Story line, I could have written. Please!
Will do anything for books!
I enjoyed this story, a flower blooming into the arms of her brother's best friend. It was worth the credit, though shorter than most I listen to it was the first in a series. The first book isn't necessary but I think may be my favorite in the bunch. I love fighters, so hot and alpha! Lots of great "romance" scenes. Good depth of characters and loads of fun.
The narrator was good, but there was a bit of background noise, it was sometimes distracting but worth dealing with for the story.
I think the title is a red herring, it references the last 30 seconds of the book. This was a very easy, very hot listen. The plot is a little one dimensional, there is a definite absence of secondary characters and sub plots. At least 90% of the story was interactions between Reid and Lucie and NO this did not bother me at all. There is a definite simplicity to the writing style and story but I found this refreshing. Although part of a series (at this point only 2 books) it is a very strong stand alone listen. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't mind blushing while listening to their iPod, something I found myself doing quite frequently.
I really enjoyed the characters of Reid and Lucie. Reid is a strong, alpha, fighting man who is pressured to play into that persona while struggling to hide his softer more sensitive side. He is driven and entirely focused on his career at the start of the novel and really evolves into a different but believable version of himself. Lucie is a self-unaware, successful and sweet. She wants to be loved and happy and I found myself rooting for her the whole novel. These characters were so likable I wasn't bothered by the novel being so solely focused on them.
This novel is definitely worth your time and I am looking forward to listening to the next story in the series.
I am a lover of books. I enjoy losing myself in a fabulous romance and great story plot.
Awww, this was a great, romantic, swoon-worthy read with a modern twist on a classic story. And, who isn't tired of a Cinderella story? I know I'm not.
The unique aspect that Maxwell brought to the table in this book was the genuine feel of the leads. I thought they sounded realistic in their professions and I really enjoyed their easy-flowing and sizzling chemistry.
Reid Andrews is the epitome of hotness! He's an MMA fighter who was training to win back his title and I loved his confidence, smooth talk and he's just funny, and emotionally complex. I love his perspective on life and people, and the part of him that is connected to art and visualization. He's also a romantic soul…and I think this is what makes him a really great lover. WHOA!! The love scenes are really hot and smoldering! For the heroine, Lucie Miller, she was sweet, quiet and in dire need of a make-over in order to channel out her inner beauty (ok whatever about that…lol). I did like her wit and fast come-backs as she played around with Reid. I thought their connection and the way they fell for each other was believable and enjoyable. Reid is best friends with Lucie's older brother and you could definitely sense their ease, comfort and familiarity with one another since they go far back.
The Cinderella-take is cute, and there are some really beautiful moments, with a father-son relationship to mend, a plain Jane turned into a radiant beauty, a blossoming hot romance and an HEA that is the kind of stuff fairy tales are made of--What's not to love?
This is a good book when you need something short, sweet, and sexy. The angst is kept to a minimum, and sometimes you just need a book like that.
Narrator: Even though Holly Fielding was a little flat at times in her intonation, I got used to her and thought she did a very good job. The recording is of poor quality as there is background noise, but nothing too distracting. The book is still enjoyable and steamy hot!
Like the romance, but love the action involved to get there!
I usually enjoy Mrs. Maxwells writing but I have to admit its like she sat down and listed all romance cliches and worked half into this story. Man who fights for a living is really a teddy bear, check. Woman has poor self body image due to past relationship, check. Father and son don't get along because father belittles son to make him stronger, check. Man is in fling that doesn't mean anything it's short term he would never fall in love, he's just helping her be more comfortable with her body so she can get man she really wants, check. Man can't like her, she's his best friends little sister, check!
There's more, but you get the point. It was still good and got you invested, but in a fluff way.

Nope. I will always prefer print over audio but I wanted to experience it again (read the book originally in 2012) and didn't have the time to re-read so audio is my next best option.
The sex is AH-MAZING. I'm a dirty book whore at my heart and this book is SO one of the best. Just...wonderful.
She was okay - my problem was with the recording I guess - the quality was horrible and EVERY TIME she took a breath I heard it. Got to be a little annoying. Plus the background noise and you could hear the audio changes when they either paused or changing recordings - it was really odd, never experienced anything like that before.
The nerdy girl seduces her sexy stud. (clearly I suck at tag lines!)
The chemistry and relationship that develops between Lucie and Reid is fabulous...I just absolutely fell head over heals for them. Even if the audio was bad, I still enjoyed the book and the story - which is really what matters!
