Publisher's summary

The infamous Reverend Curtis Black's sordid past is no secret, as his wife, Charlotte, is well aware. But when Curtis' long-time mistress and mother of his illegitimate two-year-old dies, he and Charlotte have no choice but to raise Curtina together.

While the living, breathing reminder of her husband's infidelity infuriates Charlotte, Curtis couldn't be happier to finally have his whole family together. Despite her best efforts to keep her feelings hidden, Charlotte resents Curtina, taking her emotions out on the young girl. When confronted about her behavior, Charlotte starts spending time away from home, all the while getting closer to her ex-boyfriend. Curtis appears to devote himself to his parish and the new church they're building, but is he really focusing his attention on the female parishioners trying to lure him into bed?

Suddenly Curtis and Charlotte find themselves slipping into dangerous territory, and not even Curtis' seven-figure salary can prevent what is about to happen.

Can’t get enough

Great read started a little slow but don’t let that you stop reading. The ending is a show stopper. ❤️it.

Better than I expected

This book was better than I expected, however Charlotte got on my nerves with her "entitled" spoiled, immature attitude. The book does offer a few "Oh my" moments and "wow didn't see that coming" which is why the book held my interest. Overall, I'd say that if you're reading the series, then definitely read this one. If your just looking for something to read it's a cool little page turner but may leave you with a lot of questions. The book does offer some flash back moments but not enough to truly give an accurate account of the past shenanigans with the blacks.

The narrator Paula Jai Parker- Martin. She did ok with certain characters, but sometimes left me wondering who exactly was speaking because all her voices sounded the same ESPECIALLY the male voices.

Intriguing story.

Great attention keeper and a drama/thriller mix. When you think you’ve figured it out a thrill of excitement perks up.

Kimberla Does It Again!!!!

Although January is gloomy here in the midwest, I can always get a ray of sunshine with the much anticpated annual release from Kimberla Lawson Roby. The Curtis Black series gets better with every book. This is an awesome book and I have shared it with many coworkers who also love it. I cannot wait until the next installment.

Annoying narration!

I enjoyed this book! I enjoy Paula Kai White as an actress not a narrator!

Continuation of Awesome!

This book is just a continuation of the awesome Pastor Curtis Black series. I don't know why people are commenting that the narrator wasn't good, I thought she was GREAT! Paula Jai Parker is a professional voice over actress. The way she changed her voice for each character made the story come to life. If you haven't already, you should start from the beginning of this series, you won't be disappointed.
