Publisher's summary

High-powered career woman Austin Lanier suddenly finds herself saddled with an inherited watermelon farm deep in the countryside. She's determined to sell the farm, until her new, drop-dead sexy neighbor Rye O'Donnell shows up.

Rancher Rye O'Donnell thinks he's going to get a good deal on his dream property - until he meets the fiery new owner. Rye is knocked sideways when he realizes that not only is Granny Lanier's city-slicker granddaughter a savvy businesswoman, she's also sexy as hell. Suddenly Rye is a whole lot less interested in real estate and a whole lot more focused on getting Austin to set aside her stiletto heels.

I LOVE a good romance!!!

I love Carolyn Brown books!! They are an easy listen that you don't have to watch over your should to see if someone heard something ugly from your book. A little language, a little hot sex but a lot of romance and humor. I love it!!! Narrator was also great!!! On to Spikes & Spurs # 2

Good story - bad narration

While the story was a cute, light love story I hated the narration. I’m from the south and know how accents sound - this narration was such an exaggerated twang it nearly hurt my ears! As always, Carolyn Brown did not disappoint with her story!

Raunchy & Funny! by Carolyn Brown

Austin is an Oklahoma gal raised with a silver spoon. But when she inherits a Watermelon farm from an aunt, she quits her good bank job and moves near the Texas panhandle. But, she likes it and she really likes her across the road neighbor, a tall, gorgeous ranch owner and cowboy.

Sparks ⚡️ fly! And the story is light but funny.
Narration is spot on. You'll love it if you like light reading and a raunchy storyline. Enjoy!

Really enjoying Carolyn Brown

This book was wonderful and I loved that it was written about towns so close to my hometown. Only one star was taken away because if you are going to read about these towns you need to make sure you pronounce them correctly.

Confusing dialogue with little imagery

I finally stopped about a third of the way through the book, I looked at the chapter list to see how many chapters were left and seeing that I wasn't even halfway through I had to let it go.
it was very hard to tell what words were spoken out loud and what were inner thoughts, which was made worse by the lack of imagery in the book. It was hard to tell what the characters were feeling, if they were being sarcastic if they were overwhelmed etcetera. even when it seemed as if something romantic was said out loud, the other character seemed unfazed by hearing they were sexy for the first time.

liked the story

I loved the premise of this book- city girl inherits grandma's farm, and turns out she loves the change of pace. Lots of the details were unique and fun. I wish the ending could have been expanded a bit. Compared to the rest of the story, it felt rushed.
