Don't believe everything you read

I just hope that those who listen to this book realize that it is based on the ideas of a small recent sect of Christianity and does not reflect the viewpoint of Christianity as a whole. Most Christians think it ridiculous that God would suddenly make all the Christians disappear and then subject those "left behind" to his own gruesome and fierce wrath in the form of earthquakes, asteroids and evil governments.

Unfortunately these poorly written books have gained popularity, and now it is common to think of all Christians as the condescending, legalistic know-it-alls that are reflected in the attitude of the authors. But it simply isn't true.

In some ways, though, I wish God actually *would* make all the people that believe this rubbish (and actually are deceived enough to think that it is biblical!) disappear into thin air, so that the rest of us can try to live our lives demonstrating the love of God by following in the footsteps of Jesus. God is love, not hate nor wrath, and these book are simply an erroneous portrayal of a fictitious "end time" born from ignorance and inconsistency.

Shallow and predictable

I was very disappointed in this series. It was no where near as gripping as the Christ Clone Trilogy, and no where near as believable. The Book of Revelation refers to people accepting a lie in the last days and not being aware of what is really happening. Personally, I believe the popularity of these books and the interpretation presented as fact could easily be that alternative theory that blind people to reality. Folks won't know what hit them because they expect it to play out like it does in these books.

Get your Brain Washed Here

This series is basically about "preaching to the choir," and making the events of Revelation fit into some kind story. Unfortunately, anyone with reasonable intelligence will be rolling their eyes countless times. Why could any reasonable person believe that an "all knowing, all loving" God would visit such horror and calamity upon his people--believers or not.

No matter how good or how pure a person is, all that matters to get into heaven is to be "born again." Even the characters of Hattie and Chaim "believe" that Christ is the savior, and yet that isn't good enough, they haven't been "born again." If you're basically a good guy, but for some reason don't make the secret prayer, you're going to burn in eternal torment FOREVER! Boy, that's justice.

If you have half a brain and you use it periodically, you would be wasting your time reading these so called "books." On the other hand if you like someone else to do your thinking for you, go ahead and read this it, will reinforce your programming.

Fun if you accept it for what it is...

...which is a rather poor attempt at fiction, with characters you don't care about, interspersed with sermons. In time this could be a historical document of a particular brand of fundamentalist theology. Anyway, it's utter rubbish, but the one redeeming feature is the narrator. Struggling to bring the book alive, his tone is immensely serious, and he manages to out-do Dick Van Dyke in the 'worst cockney accent attempted by an American' category (the taxi driver).

Not sure I'm happy I've wasted my book allowance on this, but probably worth listenting to just so you know what the whole 'left behind' experience is about.
