Audie Award Finalist, Fantasy, 2014

Another day, another apocalypse....

James Stark, aka Sandman Slim, has managed to get out of Hell, renounce his title as the new Lucifer, and settle back into life in L.A. But he also lost the Qomrama Om Ya, an all-powerful weapon from the banished older gods. Older gods who are returning and searching for their lost power.

The hunt leads Stark to an abandoned shopping mall - a global shopping paradise infested with Lurkers and wretched bottom-feeding Sub Rosa families, squatters who have formed tight tribes to guard their tiny patches of retail wasteland. Somewhere in this kill zone is a dead man with the answers Stark needs. All Stark has to do is find the dead man, recover the artifact, and outwit and outrun the angry old gods - and natural-born killers - on his tail.

But not even Sandman Slim is infallible, and any mistakes will cost him dearly.

Tense, fast-paced, and smart

The Sandman Slim novels are always entertaining, and this one blends in an absolute ton of world development and character nuance, particularly in its last fourth or so. Loved this book.

Still more to come YAHOOO

Stark is far more human in this story than at any other time so far. He seems to want to distance himself from Sandman Slim. He just felt more fragile to me than he has been before. It was still a good story and I still want more Sandman Slim.

Moving the story along

Every book in the series introduces the listener to a new part of the unseen underworld. I appreciate the variety and complexity of this world building. I found it hard to give 5 stars as the story still felt like a build up to the big fight rather than a true self contained story of it's own. Great narration as always with MacLeod Andrews.

Good story but a strange place to leave it at

Good story but a strange place to leave it at the end. I feel like I was left hanging wondering and I don't like cliffhangers will definitely read the next one

Andrew's is sand man slim.

can't say enough about the narrator. I've listened to other of his series and they are all spectacular. Richard kadrey is uniquely talented with great prose in the genre. got to sandman slim late but I can't get enough. truly 5 stars for every book in the series so far. great job and thanks for being awesomely entertaining audible.

A solid continuation of the Sandamn

Slight inconsistencies in some of the pronunciation and voice work but the characters shine true!

Sandman, "What a Character"

Love these amusing characters with their rough talking banter. The narrator has them down to a 'T', never disappointing, with the mad cap stories of Heaven and Hell, and all that lies between.
