Publisher's summary

"The Lord God is my strength and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me walk upon mine high places." ( Habakkuk 3:19)

Hinds' Feet on High Places is Hannah Hurnard's best-known and best-loved book, a beautiful allegory dramatizing the yearning of God's children to be led to new heights of love, joy, and victory.

Follow Much-Afraid on her spiritual journey through difficult places with her two companions, Sorrow and Suffering. Learn how Much-Afraid overcomes her tormenting fears as she passes through many dangers and mounts at last to the High Places. There she gains a new name and then returns to her valley of service, transformed by her union with the loving Shepherd.

This edition of Hinds' Feet on High Places includes two special sections: Hannah Hurnard's own account of the circumstances that led her to write Hinds' Feet on High Places and a brief autobiography of the author's life as told in the book Hearing Heart.

Beautiful

Beautiful! I read this story when I was 17 and loved it then. Now at 42 it melts my heart, there are no words to describe how lovely this allegory is. I had to slow the speed down. I wanted to take my time and the narrator speaks fast for my slow dialect:) but her voice and narration is so very comforting and well, perfect for this book. Thank you, so happy to find this precious book on here!

Helped Changed My Perspective

When I was going through a very hard time in my life, somebody gave me this book. Along with many other things, God used this book to help transform my understanding of how God sees me and the purpose of difficult times and emotions. It's amazing how Hannah can literally recognize every emotion that occurs during times of struggling to overcome situations. Even though Much-Afraid doesn't go through everyday situations we go through, yet I can completely relate to the struggle to overcome all the emotions and feelings that try to keep us in chains. When I am feeling down or overwhelmed, I like to bring out this book to be reminded that God is always working in the background to help me get to the high places.

Classic narration

40 years ago I was introduced to the allegory in print version. Nearly 30 years ago I had the joy of owning & listening to a cassette recording by Nadia May. Having worn out the tapes, I thought the beloved voice was forever lost. This story has impacted my spiritual life more than any other singular source. The Audible version is a gift to my soul. Nadia May's voice is just as I remember it and I am grateful.

Deeply Moving

I loved the parallels thru-out the story w/Much Afraid & my own life. It was simple to put myself in her place & her journey thru-out. I was shocked to learn how long ago it was written.

Although the beginning was difficult for me to listen to (accents, dialect & childlike) I felt something moving me forward & at many times couldn’t wait til my next opportunity to listen yet again.

My heart & life has been changed by this story. I am yet again reminded to lay my will down & accept whatever God brings me toward.

My favorite part is the journey with Sorrow, Suffering & the intimate times w/the Shepard. Highly recommend & can’t say enough good.

Exquisite

This has been a dear book in my life that I enjoy coming back to in different stages of my life.
The characters act so appropriately for each situation and the development of the main character can bring you to tears.
The narrator does an incredible job that you sometimes feel like you are really hearing the characters voice.
I recommend, and sometimes gift, this book often to others in my church. Kanawha Valley Church of Christ.

So many applicable truths for our lives today

I loved this book when I first read it 10 years ago and love it all the more listening to it now. The Narrator was excellent.

Feet for walking...

Feet are made for walking, it’s what feet does best; but to walk the path which Jesus hath purposed is daring as well as rewarding.

Ms. Hannah’s book has pricked my heart to share her revelations with young leaders by giving them her book to read , hopefully to assist in their personal journeys . I am certain Jesus is Lord.

Ms, Hannah, may we meet in Heaven someday, thank you. Ms. Drena!

Incredible book and great reader!

I enjoyed listening to this book so much! The story resonated with me so strongly! The narrators voice was pleasant. There were a few times that lines were repeated accidentally, but it wasn’t ever enough of an interruption to ruin the flow of the story. It would be awesome if Nadia May or a different narrator recorded the sequel “Mountains of Spices.”

One of my all time favorite books

Read this first time 1971. Lost count how many times I’ve read since. Every time I see something I didn’t catch before or that speaks to me in a deeper place, deeper way = inspired.

Cannot recommend book or audio higher.
