Publisher's summary

In the dramatic conclusion to the New York Times best seller Her Mother’s Hope, Francine Rivers delivers a rich and deeply moving story about the silent sorrows that can tear a family apart and the grace and forgiveness that can heal even the deepest wounds.

Growing up isn’t easy for little Carolyn Arundel. With her mother, Hildemara, quarantined to her room with tuberculosis, Carolyn forms a special bond with her oma Marta, who moves in to care for the household. But as tensions between Hildie and Marta escalate, Carolyn believes she is to blame. When Hildie returns to work and Marta leaves, Carolyn and her brother grow up as latchkey kids in a world gripped by the fear of the Cold War.

College offers Carolyn the chance to find herself, but a family tragedy shatters her newfound independence. Rather than return home, she cuts all ties and disappears into the heady counterculture of San Francisco. When she reemerges two years later, more lost than ever, she reluctantly turns to her family to help rebuild a life for her and her own daughter, May Flower Dawn.

Just like Carolyn, May Flower Dawn develops a closer bond with her grandmother, Hildie, than with her mother, causing yet another rift between generations. But as Dawn struggles to avoid the mistakes of those who went before her, she vows that somehow she will be a bridge between the women in her family rather than the wall that separates them forever.

Spanning from the 1950s to present day, Her Daughter’s Dream is the emotional final chapter of an unforgettable family saga about the sacrifices every mother makes for her daughter—and the very nature of unconditional love.

Deep

Francine Rivers never does anything halfway and this book and the previous one, Her Mother's Hope, are no exception. As a personal life and family coach, I have actually recommended some of her books to my various clients.
The reader is exceptional also.

Touching

Loved the narration. A five generation story of amazing God-fearing women (if you listen to both books). I felt inspired to learn more about the history of my family and the struggles they endured. The author is so tuned into real-life concerns and troubles that plague relationships and self-acceptance that the story line is absolutely relatable and believable.

Asorbing!

If you could sum up Her Daughter’s Dream in three words, what would they be?

It captivated me!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Her Daughter’s Dream?

It was the ending, not to be a spoiler... it was sad and uplifting in the most unexpected way. The entire book was relateing to family situations, if not in mine, it was some one I knew. I loved this book, it was so real!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was laughing and crying through out the entire story. My husband and I both listened and there were a few times I saw his eyes mist up.

Historical

The intertwined genealogy fascinated me. I was stunned at the demise of May Flower Dawn. I was also enthralled at the many situations created to bring about assumed misunderstandings & reconciliation. The importance of family & unity can never be stressed enough. I know 2 of my sisters & 1 of my friends will certainly enjoy this series. The reality of silenced abuse & false shame & guilt turn my stomach. It’s getting worse as years go by. God help us & God bless America!

Amazing!

What a wonderful book. My goal is to read all of the authors books I’ve read’s for so far and I’m onto the next. I love the God stories I cherish each one of these books in my heart and have learned so many lessons and learn to understand people and relationships that we are not perfect and we are all flawed, but God loves us all.

A wonderful story that tugs at the heart

I was captivated by this story and listened to it every free moment I had over a week while traveling. Be prepared to experience a range of emotions - hurt, anger, joy, awe, and happiness, to name a few. The story line takes you across several years and includes very descriptive accounts of historical events, areas of countries, and the changing lives of the characters. I enjoyed the unfolding spiritual journeys included and how realistic the author was able to present the events of each of the characters' lives. God's love is evident and shared in many different ways. I laughed, cried, and reflected as I listened. Truly an amazing book!
