A Joy to Listen

it was a joy to experience the lives of these biblical ladies through the eyes of Francine.

Dislike narration

This book is full of my pet peeve, a narrator’s miss pronunciation of basic words. “Didn’t,” “wouldn’t” and “couldn’t” are not pronounced correctly but they come out as “dinent,” “counent,” “wounent.” The T’s and D’s at the ends of words are altogether dropped. Also words like “skin,” “chin” and “him” are pronounced with “e” instead of “i” resulting in her “lifting her ‘chen’ to ‘hem.’” So annoying. I find myself focusing more to the poor pronunciation then to the story itself.

Narrator low vote!

The Narrator voice was not pleasant for me to listen to. Speeding it up made it worse!

Couldn’t stop listening!

The stories the author wrote about women who lived in biblical times, highlighted their were incredible strength and devotion to God. Fantastic writing skill held me at the edge of my seat! I have already listened to two of Francine’s books and plan to listen to more!

Very interesting perspective and storytelling of each account.

I really enjoyed each short story. They were intriguing, and the way the writer weaved her imagination in with the documented Biblical accounts was very entertaining and enlightening.

Women of the Bible brought to life

I love her storytelling. After listening to this book, I felt like I got to know these women and feel what they must’ve felt when they were in their position and how God worked in their life.

ORPAH NOT OPRAH

I was embarrassed to recommend this to a non- believing friend. She would hear the story as I listened at work. We discussed how much research a story like this must take…. And then while listening the narrator refer to Naomi’s daughter in-law as “OPRAH.,” as opposed to “ORPAH” the name in the bible all the legitimacy went out the window. So, I must know… Was it the authors fault? Did she misspell ORPAHS name? Or Did the narrator misread, 20+ Times?

Poorly narrated but Worth the Read

As usual Francine Rivers' research and writing is captivating and thought provoking. Unfortunately the narrator's many misprinouncuations and errors made this a difficult listen.

Interesting perspectives

I enjoyed the story, but I was really distracted by the narrator's accent and odd pronunciations.
