Good Love Story

This was a sweet love story...traditional, good character development...I enjoyed it. If you are looking for a romance, this is a choice.

off-key, off-target

The novel itself is okay; nothing unusual or particularly engaging, but it is chock full of cliches, to an incredible degree. There are also some pretty big jumps in terms of characterization. All that I could live with if I were reading this novel -- I would skim for plot, and then forget the whole within a week or so. But the narrator. The narrator turns bland into something that reminds me of fingernails on a blackboard. She reads in a way that is both sing-song and monotone, drawing out every cliche with relish. There's a saccharine quality to the reading which drove me crazy. I forced myself to keep listening in the hope that it would improve, but by the last fourth, I had given up. Please note: I love well done audio of romance novels. This is not about the genre; it's about the mediocre quality of the book, dragged down into darker depths by the narrator.

Skip It

At first excited to read this author. This will be my first and only book by Ms. Anderson. this particular story is endless riding in circles to escape ruthless killers but somehow the outlaws are always still so close. OMG, I thought this book would never end. So boring. Sorry but it's the truth. Took me several weeks to finish. I would only listen after I finish another book until I just had to finish so I wouldn't have to push play again. The story in itself could have been told in one week not 6 endless riding in circles weeks. The narrator was okay. Some good moral messages which I did enjoy about loss and faith.

Good Listen

This was one of my favorite books of Catherine Anderson. The story flowed and I had a hard time turning it off. Eden was not complaining all the time and Mathew was not pathetic. Loved it

Oops

Not what I expected, but listened anyhow. Definitely not my genre, more along the lines of a sappy harlequin romance.

good, relaxing, fun, realistic

I found the narrator to have lots of colour which added to the overall enjoyment of this story, whilst it was probably not gender accurate for the period, it was plausible given yhe many accounts of extraordinary trailblazers.

#TopFav loved it

The narrator did a fantastic job. Inflection, tone and emotion came through great. The different voices of the many different characters was amazing.

The trauma that both Matthew and Eden lived through was something out your worst nightmare.
The evil that exists in the world back then was portrayed in a terrifying way.
The Sebastion Brothers were evil personified.
Matthew had to show such bravery and perseverance. Eden lived through something that would normally break the strongest man. She had steel running through her veins.
I normally have a hard time with widower stories as I feel the hero doesn't let go and give the heroine a real chance to show their love is just as important. Matthew did struggle yet the way that these two fell into an amazing friendship first proved that love can bloom and grow anywhere. That if you open a window in your heart, the light of love will fill all the cracks and spaces yet the people who live there aren't gone. They just live among the memories and in the new light of love.

This was beautiful, this was suspenseful and this was just everything I love in a romance.
Again Catherine Anderson proves she's a queen.

Very good!

I enjoyed listening to Early Dawn, although not required to enjoy the book, I think it would have been a better experience if I had listened and read this series in the right order.

Explicit and Gratuitous Violence

I have to say up front that I did not finish this book. I did listen to it for a little over an hour and wish I could get my hour back.

For me, this book went into WAY too much detail describing brutal violence and the disgusting characters perpetrating it. I love a good action/adventure storyline, but to me a book filled with elaborate descriptions of repeated murder, rape, and assault scenes is not romantic. I don’t think I’ll look for any other books by this author.

I will say that the narrator had a nice voice- easy to listen to, good tone and tempo.
