There's a new ice cream truck roaming the neighborhood, and Trey Leger believes its driver is a monster.

While the neighborhood children see a friendly man serving the treats, Trey sees a frightful demon behind the wheel.

Battling years of mental illness and the demons from his own childhood, Trey investigates to determine if the creature is merely a symptom of his mental illness or something far more terrifying.

First rate psychological thriller

What made the experience of listening to Closet Treats the most enjoyable?

Being able to just sit back with my eyes closed and just "watch" the story unfold in my head complete. Being that I'm a slow reader, this is more efficient and allows for a more connected experience vs reading a little here and a little more a few days later.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, it has a slow burn quality to it by introducing subtle doubts about what is actually happening (don't want to go further to avoid spoilers).

Which scene was your favorite?

So hard to choose, but I would have to say the plot twist at very end of story (you'll have to read to find out)

If you could rename Closet Treats, what would you call it?

I'm terrible with titles, but here goes, Ice Cream "Man"?

Any additional comments?

Despite loving his latest offering in The Black series, I still think this is my favorite of Paul Cooley's tales.

Excelent horror novel

A very well delivered horror novel, gripping and creepy as hell. Good pace, story and characters. Looking forward to read other novels from this author!

There really are monsters in the closet.

Trey sees things sometimes. He has little “blanks” in time. There seems to be tears in his reality that are getting larger and wearing very thin. All with a Scooby Doo soundtrack and a triple scoop of Yum Yum ice cream. The pills help. Not enough. I think the crazy may be winning. Or are the monsters in the closet real?

I really enjoyed this one from Mr. Cooley. It had the creepy factor in spades and there were some genuine goose bump moments in here. I really felt Trey’s struggle with keeping it together as his episodes increased in intensity and frequency. The narration for this one was also stellar. The cadence and tone were spot on and really added to the overall ambiance of the story. Very well done all around.

Disturbing

If you could sum up Closet Treats in three words, what would they be?

Creepy and creepy.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The story did not go where I expected it to go.

Any additional comments?

Excellent narration of a story far more outside of my comfort zone than I expected.

A horror stort, it is slow, very slow and it is disappointing most of the way tgrough. The author did a good job with ghe stiry line, the chsracters, the building of suspenwea. He outsmarted me, it did motgothe way I thought it would. Not gory or yucky. and a book I will not forget
