Publisher's summary

To those who matter in 1950s Hollywood, Lena Scott is the hottest rising star to hit the silver screen since Marilyn Monroe. Few know her real name is Abra. Even fewer know the price she' s paid to finally feel like she' s somebody. To Pastor Ezekiel Freeman, Abra will always be the little girl who stole his heart the night he found her, a wailing newborn abandoned under a bridge on the outskirts of Haven.

Zeke and his son, Joshua - Abra' s closest friend - watch her grow into an exotic beauty. But Zeke knows the circumstances surrounding her birth etched scars deep in her heart, scars that leave her vulnerable to a fast-talking bad boy who proclaims his love and lures her to Tinseltown. Hollywood feels like a million miles from Haven, and naive Abra quickly learns what' s expected of an ambitious girl with stars in her eyes.

But fame comes at an awful price. She has burned every bridge to get exactly what she thought she wanted. Now, all she wants is a way back home. In this riveting and highly anticipated tale of temptation, grace, and unconditional love, New York Times best-selling author Francine Rivers delivers big-canvas storytelling at its very best.

Too long for my liking...

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

No, I think there are better books by Francine Rivers (i.e., Redeeming Love was the best) and other authors.

What did you like best about this story?

The redemptive message especially came through at the end.

Did Kate Forbes do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

I thought the narrator did an ok job differentiating the characters but the narration dragged on slowly.

If you could rename Bridge to Haven, what would you call it?

I wouldn't change the title.

Any additional comments?

Maybe it was just me, but I felt the story went on much too long and the slow narration didn't help.

Good Religious Fiction

I do not read Christian fiction although I am a person of faith so I did not understand what I was reading at first. It is a good book and dosent shy away from realistic story lines and characters. Some might find the content graphic but I did not. Alas I am a cynic and especially towards the end of the novel the message was a little on the preachy side. The main character developed conclusions about her life, actions and it's consequences that many might not agree with. Overall this book was well written despite a fairly predictable, stereotypical and preachy conclusion. For me, religious fiction should allow the reader to think and draw their own conclusions but this book tied everything in a neat package as a way of saying "the moral of this story is...". I prefer a more subtle style which is one reason why I do not read much faith based fiction, still a good book. Good narrator.

Ezekiel 16 Made Real

This book is my very first Francine Rivers novel. I love the 60's & was excited to learn about the Lord's hand through such a time.

It's exciting & riveting with twists and turns that'll make you never want to put it down. It was wonderful seeing characters that reflected a real brokenness being transformed by the kind of grace only God can give.

I know i'll be coming back to this one throughout my lifetime. Thank you Francine Rivers this was truly a gift.

Beautifully broken

A beautiful story of real life styles that people have and struggles. How God redeemed are brokenness and heals by forgiving us and redeeming us if we commit our lives to him. A wonderful storyline I’m always learning about God’s love ,redemption and his kindness.
Through the authors books, I’ve read almost every book now .
