Faith

It’s a very good book. It had me mad and than in tears. Sometimes reading the Bible makes hard to understand but with messages like this makes us know God love.

Awesome book

I loved this book! As a PK I really related to the whole thing. It was a truthful story and very impacting. Every pastor should read it. The narrator read a little slow (pace) but I loved it anyway!

Mixed up chapters....

I would give this book a five star because I absolutely love Francine River's books but the narrator starts the book over at chapter14....and now I'm confuse....I've never gotten an Audiblebook like this before...does Audible exchange? I would love to come back and change my review when I'm able to listen to this book straight through without the narrator starting over in the middle of the story.:(

Enjoyable read

I so enjoy Francine Rivers’ books and this was no exception. I became very irritated (as reader was supposed to) with the pastor of the church and his different behaviors, but she did a wonderful job.

Narrator Distraction

While I can’t begin to imagine the process for reading an entire book out loud without making a mistake, I do have to suggest that something be done to minimize the noises coming from the narrator. She reads in a way that keeps your attention and makes you feel Ike you’re actually in the story; it’s just a bit distracting to hear noises between words and breaks. Perhaps her mouth was dry from speaking but that can be overcome. Her narration was good but the smacking and swallowing noises were quite distracting.

Fingernails on a chalkboard

What did you love best about And the Shofar Blew?

I love this story. The characters are broad and deep. You see their heart.

What did you like best about this story?

Rivers writes Jesus so well in her stories. She is one of the best. I love her stories.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

The narrator is what I found difficult in this book. You can hear her take breaths through her nose. That is distracting. Her voices for the children are unnerving. I'm sorry to say it but her voice is old. Young can do old but old just can't do young. I will not listen to another book narrated by Ms Phimister again.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The weaving of the story goes together so well there just isn't just one moment but many. I want a mentor like Samuel and Abby.

Any additional comments?

Wonderfully written. Terribly narrated.

Jesus is the cornerstone

This is quite different from the historical novels I have read by Francine Rivers. It was not what I expected, though I enjoyed it. It is a discussion of what often happens in mega churches--more concern for programs and numbers than for the message being brought forth. This is not my favorite narrator which is one reason I only gave the book a 4. The message is good and the theology is sound. I cared about the characters and believed them. I would recommend this book.
