Publisher's summary

There'd been a Rivers at the helm of Argyle Community Hospital for six generations, and Harper Rivers was set to take her father's place whenever he decided to hang up his shingle. Unfortunately, the board of directors had other ideas - they accepted a buyout offer from a health-care conglomerate with plans to close the hospital's doors to the community that depended on it. And Presley Worth, a high-powered corporate financier, came to town to oversee the closure. Funny thing was, no one asked Harper, and she had no intention of following anyone's orders but her own - no matter how beautiful, smart, or commanding the new boss might be.

Just as good as the book

I’m always hesitant when purchasing an audiobook just for the fact That I’m never sure if the narration will hamper the story in any way... well I’m glad to say this wasn’t the case here... Eva Kaminsky Did a wonderful job with the reading of the story and I was drawn into it from the start just as I was when I read it the first time. Definitely a wonderful start to the Rivers series. I don’t doubt I’ll hesitate to run off and get the other audiobooks in this series. 5 stars ⭐️

One Of Her Best

There are only small variables in Radclyffe's books, however in those small differences is what separates the good from the not so good. Harper Rivers has followed the family tradition and is the heir apparent to her father as the hospital director. However as is now the case of many communities the the hospital is sold to a conglomerate. This brings Presley Worth into Harper's life and thus begins their love story. Harper and Presley, (damn doesn't Radclyffe come up with the wildest, most unusual androgynous names,) begin the dance that every romance novel, gay or straight goes through to lead a couple to true love in the end. Presley begins the story as a hard edged business woman, without any regard for what will happen to the community when the changes the conglomerate will bring, go through. Then as we all knew it would her relationship with Harper and the community begins to change her into a softer, more caring and lovable person. Almost as big a part of the novel as Harper and Presley is Harper's younger sister Flan, a surgeon and a player who is my far the best character in the book. Flan brings an edge to this story that the writers in this genre rarely give their main characters. A confrontation between the two sisters late in the novel brings about a scene both surprising and titillating.
As a connoisseur of romance novels I know it takes a good writer to create characters the reader/listener cares about enough to take the same old formula and make it work; in this particular work she does.

Radclyffe= Formula + medicine

It’s formula fiction, (girl gets girl, girl loses girl, girl gets girl back), but with enough frills to make it enjoyable. And Eva Kaminsky doesn’t screw it up trying to do drastically opposing voices.

Hateful to Amazing

I have never hated anything more then taking away things from people when they need it most. This comes from being a HCP myself, but it was well worth the ride to the end. Thank you.

Great beginning to the Rivers Community series!

I read this book - the first of the Rivers Community series - quite a few years ago and really liked it. Thankfully, the audiobook was just as entertaining. Narrator Eva Kaminsky did a good job performing the work, though she doesn't have the variety of voices available in her wheelhouse like some might. That said - she's got a really nice tone that is quite pleasant to listen to. Rad can't write a bad medical novel - that's her area of expertise after all, having been a surgeon in her previous career. So that aspect is always spot on. Mixed with her vivid descriptions of small-town living, beautiful scenery, family dynamics and a deliciously slow-building hot romance? Yeah - the woman's a master.
I don't know whose idea it was to offer this on Audible for $1.99 in the U.S. but it was a smart move. I jumped on it and now have to listen to more in the series! Definitely recommend. 4.5 stars.

This is a great book to read.

Ok so let's get this out of the way.
The story ended abruptly.
The whole proposal was really quick seeing they really didn't even have a relationship. however I am a believer of love at first site.
The narration at first was hard to listen to. She seemed bored, but by the second part of the book I got use to her and the story flowed better, She found her groove.
I felt there was a few loose ends with this book, for it to just end.
I did have a hard time feeling the chemistry between the two main characters out side of their love scenes. Not that it wasn't there. It was just really light. If that makes since.

So with that out of the way.. let's see, this story is about the harsh realities of corporate takeovers. Hospitals getting bought out, or having to merge to save investments for investors and board members.
The Author did a really good job keeping things believable. Characters relationships and interactions were great and will keep you engaged. The love story was good, light hearted without alot of drama.
I loved this family and how all the sisters got along. I really liked how there was some diversity between them.
you'll really like how Carry deals with Flannary when she hits on her. That was a definitely a lol moment.
Radcyffe did a great job once again...and I look forward to the sequels.
