While their men fight, America's women produce what's necessary for victory. In a Michigan shipyard, four female co-workers forge a strong bond of friendship that, combined with faith, helps them to overcome oppression, despair, and tragedy - and find love in unlikely places.

Written from four diverse viewpoints, A Woman's Place is an emotionally rich glimpse of life in World Ware II America.

Lynn Austin's three Christy Awards include one for Hidden Places, which was made into a popular Hallmark film.

Best book yet.

I laughed. I cried. Then laughed again. I’ve read many Lynn Austin books but this one by far was most captivating. So good.

Beautiful story

I have recently discovered Lynn Austin and I’m so happy! This book was so good! I hated it to end, as I have with many of her other books. Narrator was fantastic too. Faith based book that speaks truth.

Phenomenal Work

Every point of view was so well developed and each character had such real relatable stories. This book kept me on my toes and had my laughing out loud at parts and sobbing at others. It was so great, a definite read.

Loved the unfolding of each character

Excellent narration, wholesome without being cheesy or preachy. Loved the nuances of each character and their individual plights. Easy, but highly engaging listen

Enjoyed this story

I wasn't sure how I would like this story of women's rights, but I did end up enjoying it. It pulled me in and I couldn't wait to hear more.

Wonderful story

What made the experience of listening to A Woman's Place the most enjoyable?

I love the narrator. She got the accents perfect, making the story come alive.

What does the narrator bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her narration brought each character in the story to life, giving them a very distinct and individual identity

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I could have if time would allow.

Any additional comments?

I didn't want the story to end. I felt connected to the characters in the story. The author did an excellent job of developing the characters. My grandmother worked as a welder during WWII. She became a master welder. After the war, she lost her job but always remembered the experience with fondness. I felt connected with the time and people in this book. Lynn really brought this time frame to life.

This book has brought me to tears!

Where does A Woman's Place rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This has been the best. Overall, performance and story. It has been my ultimate joy to read a book minus profanity. The story was so well done I could imagine myself back in time.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Woman's Place?

When Jenny fell off the ladder. In light of everything that was happening, the scene made me hold my breath.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Jean told Russ to leave her house after her brother's memorial service.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not necessarily. I like having to look forward to what's going to happen next. Anticipation is the best part of a great book. It's the journey for me, not the ending. It's rare that I can read or listen in one sitting, so again I like coming back to it.

Great story!!

I loved it! Many good, happy moments and many tears shed. It gave me many different perspectives on being a woman during WWII --their thoughts and feelings. Thanks for a great listen!
