Publisher's summary

Available for the first time as an audiobook in this original Outlander novella, Diana Gabaldon reveals what really happened to Roger MacKenzie Wakefield’s parents. Orphaned during World War II, Roger believed that his mother died during the London Blitz, and that his father, an RAF pilot, was killed in combat. But in An Echo in the Bone, Roger discovers that this may not be the whole story. Now, in "A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows," readers finally learn the truth.

Good side story but Davina would've made it great!

What did you love best about A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows?

A Leaf on the Wind of Hallows gave closure to some important topics addressed in MOBY

How could the performance have been better?

I would have enjoyed this so much more if Davina Porter had been the narrator. She is as much a part of Outlander as Jamie and Claire. It's just not the same without her.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes...I wish I had read it rather that listened to it.

A Short Story Well Told

What did you love best about A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows?

This novella tells the story of Roger's parents and what really happened to them. This was only given a glimpse in the Outlander series and this fills in all the gaps beautifully.

Any additional comments?

This was the first narration I've listened to from Robert Ian MacKenzie and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Roger's parents deaths have been a mystery to Outlander readers and the truth of what really happened was brilliantly told, heartbreaking and beautiful.

Interesting insight

I read this short story years ago so it was interesting to listen to it knowing the story already. It gave a different perspective on Roger, the war in England and Jerry, Rogers father. I liked it.

Excellent

The narration was outstanding, as usual the book is short, but very crucial to the whole storyline and understanding Roger McKenzie a.k.a. Mac and his parents and their background definitely shouldn’t skip over this one. :-)

She could write a funeral dirge and I would buy it

What did you love best about A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows?

It is nice to see the expansion of her characters outside of the Outlander series. So, hint hint, if Jamie and Claire are put in an old folks home (which I am sure Diana could make interesting) she could go sideways or backwards and still satisfy our wish to read her work.

What about Robert Ian MacKenzie’s performance did you like?

I liked his performance, although I am used to Davina Porter from the Outlander series.

Any additional comments?

I wish it was longer, but I suppose one person can only do so much....
