"Powerful....An intense gem in an authentic voice." (Publishers Weekly)
No, Not unless you can take the pain of hearing a story about a helpless scared child being sexually abused by someone who is suppose to love and protect her, also it was really graphic.
I LOVED when Jillian's mother started kicking the SOB till he passed out....
Yes, sure it would be similar to the movie Precious. Who cares who the star should be I would never watch it.
This book was actually well written and the narrator was excellent but the thing that I just couldn't bare was the story and how real it was, so if you love reading KLR books she is still one of the best out. But I wish I never bought this audible. Even being someone who has never been through anything like that, it still piss me off knowing there are people out in the world like the Dad in this story.
Hi my name is Bianca and I am a avid reader. I love all types of genres and read all the time. I am a book worm and always will be one.
I loved when jillians mother believed her and comforted her unlike Nicky's mother.
This book made me cry alot.
I think that the narrator did a very great job telling the story. I love anything by Kimberla Lawson Robey. She is one of my favorite authors.
It was ok for me. It was very predictable. I think I may have expected more from this author, but oh well. It was not the worst book I have listened to.
The title was an upfront spoiler, who couldn't guess what the secret was going to be? But one could still hope for a more surprising deep dark secret, at least a twist could have been thrown in; unfortunately this story was so very, very, very predictable from beginning to typical ending. I had to force myself to listen to the entire 4 hours and 34 minutes of audio, geez was it torture, because the narrator, Cherise Boothe less than engaging tone really put a damper on the story.
