Publisher's summary

For many years now, the church in North America has heard figure after figure concerning the steady flow of young people leaving the church. In the midst of these troubling figures, there remains a glimmer of hope for these youth as they transition into young adults. Ever Ancient, Ever New tells the story of a generation of younger Christians from different backgrounds and traditions who are finding a home and a deep connection in the church by embracing a liturgical expression of the faith.

Author and teacher Winfield Bevins introduces you to a growing movement among younger Christians who are returning to historic, creedal, and liturgical reflections of Christianity. He unpacks why and how liturgy has beckoned them deeper into their experience of Jesus and what types of churches and communities foster this "convergence" of old and new.

Filled with stories illustrating the excitement and joy many young adults have found in these ancient expressions of Christianity, this audiobook introduces you to practices and principles that may help the church as it seeks to engage our postmodern world.

Narrator could have researched better

The mispronunciations were a bit distracting, though the book itself was still informative and enjoyable.

Really helpful in how to move forward

Excellent survey of WHY liturgy is making a resurgence. I personally have been fostered in the non denominational/Pentecostal tradition. For a few years I have been having this recurring thought, “is this it? There has to be more...” who knows maybe a community of passionate liturgical disciples who value expression of the Holy Spirit is the answer.

Wow. All I can say is WOW.

This book is for anyone who has a restless heart in a tradition of ant kind that feels that it is lacking something more. It does an incredible job of addressing 3 streams that I have come to believe are repeated all through Scripture: Evangelism, Liturgy/Sacraments/Charisma. I will probably read it again!

Great Overview of Liturgy

As a clergy member in a mainline denomination who has served in several locations across the US, this book is just far too optimistic. This is a great book for reviewing liturgical traditions and learning to incorporate liturgy into more liberally organized worship organizations.
