Lying on the floor of her cubicle to stave off a migraine while working late, the last thing Ashley Bell expected was to open her eyes and find the company's notoriously hard-assed owner and CEO, Ben Stone, standing over her. The offer of a ride home is a bigger surprise, but the biggest shock of all comes when Ben asks her to work for him as his personal assistant.
Despite some misgivings about his intentions, Ashley accepts the position, but she has barely started the job when a phone call turns her life on its head. Her twin sister has been kidnapped, and the price for her life is Ashley's help in a secret plot to destroy Ben's company. But she soon discovers that Ben has a far more terrifying secret of his own.
From the moment he first crossed paths with Ashley, the beautiful young human from marketing, Ben has been consumed by her. When her life is threatened by his enemies, he casts aside caution and fights with the rage of a beast defending his mate. Not sure he can trust her yet determined to protect her, Ben kidnaps Ashley, planning to keep her under his watch for as long as necessary.
Ashley is none too happy with the situation, but a hard bare-bottom spanking changes her attitude...and leaves her begging for more. Though Ben knows a human girl is no match for the fearsome lusts of an alpha wolf, she ignites in him a hunger he can barely contain. Can he resist the urge to mark her as his own and take her harder than she can imagine?

I found this book to be good. It had a good plot. Had excitement, mystery, suspense, intrigue, heat, adventure, unexpected surprises and love. It's fast-paced, well written with a story that just takes you on a thrill ride. The heat between Ashley and Ben is off the charts steamy hot. The characters are strong, sexy, smart, deep and complex. I didn't like the spanking part. I don't find that sexy at all. Nor was the over use of the P-word welcomed.
While the book was good, I did have problems with the narrator. Her regular reading is good but some of the voices she did were awful. The voice of Ashley sounded like she was 5 years old. Which was irritating. Zolla was another character that sounded bad.
I enjoyed this book and hope that there is a book 2. It would be nice to learn more about the other wolves.

great book! great story line! didnt leave me hanging or questioning ehat was going on. it had terrific plot and character development that didnt feel at all forced.
Renee Rose never fails to entwine her interesting characters and in this story she merges the fantasy elements of shape-shifters with the business world – and of course, there are the hot sexy spankings. This plot has several twists as the Alpha Wolf brings the human woman into both his business and personal lives. I had read Ms Rose’ promotional short story with these characters in ‘The Alpha’s Punishment’ and I jumped at the chance to enjoy the full story of how Ashley and Ben created their unusual relationship.
I found Sierra Kline’s performance to be wonderful addition to Ms Rose’s words. Her soft narrator voice adds to the building erotic tension, however, her variations for the character voices are a bit strained. What is most noteworthy is the relaxed, stimulating way she adds to the sexual tension for the erotic scenes – a great performance.
I would from Kline however I'd be wary from Rose as this book wasn't my cup of tea in regards to BDSM aspects.
It was a satisfactory good ending.
adequate narration performance
The BDSM element was way over the top for my personal taste. To me it was more like domestic abuse. There was spanking with marks welts and bruising and there was beating with a belt. It was done as serious punishment by a man who wanted to be in complete control. It was not a playful game. It was mean and the heroine accepted the abuse. This was not a turn on and I almost stopped listening to the book many times over. What keep me listening was the thriller plot. I wanted to see who the villain was. There were two contenders.
The book was a pretty good book from the suspense thriller standpoint, however the BDSM was more akin to an abusive relationship.
Reading is my favorite hobby. I enjoy all genres, from classics, pnr & urban fantasy, to educational and self-help. I go many books weekly
While I didn't love the author narrator combo, I would give them another try if the book was cheap or on sale.
This started as a typical dominate older man/younger submissive naive college graduate woman story-with a twist, the dom is also a wolf shifter. This story was just ok for me. There was some aspects I felt that just didn't belong. I didn't buy into the spanking scene. It seems like everyone's trying to copy FSOG, when paranormal romance is its own genre with its own audience. I was provided this audiobook at no charge in exchange for my honest review.
Stronger female lead. Less spanking. Story did not move a long.
The frequent spankings.
