"Easily one of the most natural storytellers on the modern scene." (San Francisco Chronicle)
"Her voluptuous prose draws readers into an erotic landscape where the sensual delights are dark-edged...and utterly compelling." (Village Voice)
I read the book years ago and wanted to try audible book...although I realize this is an abridged version it feels like big key sections of the book were taken out that showed the connection between the main characters. Couldn't concentrate on the narrator in the beginning with the background music ever so loud and it didn't sound clear and crisp...I'm listening to another book through audible and it sounds good. Disappointed :(
I didn't expect to like this as much as I did. I chose it for the author. This is a provocative & controversial work which many will find offensive. I read this straight through & was glad I did. It is intense, sensual, & sexual yet there are no explicitly erotic scenes. As far as category, it's kind of Forbidden Romance.
