An ambitious intern. A perfectionist executive. And a whole lot of name calling. Discover the story that garnered more than two million reads online.
Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills has only one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He’s exacting, blunt, inconsiderate - and completely irresistible. A beautiful bastard.
Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his family’s massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who’d been helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative - completely infuriating - creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumors, he’s never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe’s so tempting he’s willing to bend the rules - or outright smash them - if it means he can have her. All over the office.
As their appetites for one another increase to a breaking point, Bennett and Chloe must decide exactly what they’re willing to lose in order to win each other. Originally only available online as The Office by tby789 - and garnering over two million reads on fan-fiction sites - Beautiful Bastard has been extensively updated for rerelease.

"The perfect blend of sex, sass and heart, Beautiful Bastard is a steamy battle of wills that will get your blood pumping!" (S.C. Stephens, best-selling author of Thoughtless)
I picked up this book on the recommendation from people that I follow on the Audible site. I am glad I downloaded it. It is a unexpected sexual romp that develops between two people who are very driven get on each others nerves and know they shouldnt cross that line when it comes to inter office romance. It is a fun love/hate relationship with a lot of confusion when it comes to feelings, careers, and the struggle of what's right and wrong. When it comes down to that animal urge they just say "F-it" and let it fly. I like how you hear from each characters point of view. I always want to know what the guy is thinking. Lots of humor which I like and very likeable people. It is worth the credit and I will look for this author in the future.
"No matter where you go... there you are."
My wife ordered this book so she a several other nurses (all women) could listen to it during a long drive they made to a medical convention. So... I figured I'd see what the ladies were so interested in and loaded it on my MP3. Holy-up-against-the-office-window and up with the skirt girl! This book proves guys are just too stupid to really understand all that women are. The plot and story were so-so, but I gave it an overall 4 stars because I actually sported wood several times during the narrative, and that alone is worth 2 stars. It's a wonder my wife and her colleagues didn't crash the car on the way to San Francisco.
Busy mom who loves to read but doesn't always have the time. I enjoy YA, Romance and the occasional Best Seller.
WOW! This is definitely an EROTIC book. It starts out hot and heavy and never backs down. At times I didn't get all the "Hate Sex" or why these two had to have sex in the work place (really? they weren't worried about getting caught). Despite the complaints and the light plot I still enjoyed this book. I knew what I was getting into from the start and just enjoyed the ride.
I ignore genre labels. Some of my favorite books are outside my genre comfort zone. Listening to audiobooks is still reading. Not theater.
This is the first book in a series that on the face of it appears to be another attempt to take advantage of the 50 Shades hype. But it is not a 50 Shades wannabe. It is a good book. A very good book. The writing, pace and characters are all better developed that 50 Shades and definitely better than any of the 50 Shade clones.
It is formulaic, but it works and it includes an element that seems to be lacking in the angst-filled batch of erotic romance novels published lately. It is funny. There are some laugh out-loud funny lines. The characters take their relationship seriously, but they are also having fun. No brooding stares, no meaningful silence. The hero doesn't have an unbelievable medical condition that makes him violent in his sleep, he isn't obsessed with a medieval author to the point that he almost channels him and he is not the most wealthy, wildly successful, way too young for his success, handsome man in the entire world, or at least the Pacific Northwest. He is rich and good looking, but not the richest and best looking. So he comes across as more real than the heroes of several recent books.
It passed my sure fire test with flying colors. When I was done reading the book I wanted to know what happened to the characters next. I wasn't ready to let go of them. If a book makes me feel that way, I can forgive a lot.
If you like this genre I really recommend this book. You will not be disappointed.
I love Audible! Being a full time wife, mother, and career leaves no time to actually read. Audio books give me my fix anytime and anywhere.
This novel is 80% sex. I like my sex, believe me, but typically when it's all eroticism paired with a weak story line and little character development I get disappointed then wish I hadn't bothered. For the amount of sex within this novel and it being less than 12 hours I SHOULD have been disappointed, but I wasn't and still can't really figure out why. This book is definitely H-O-T-T hot, I never doubted that, but some where along the way Christina Lauren managed to sneak in more and enthrall me. One thing I enjoyed that separates "Beautiful Bastard" from other erotic romance novels is that the reader/listener learns about the characters little by little. In most cases an author will share nearly everything to know in long drawn out monologs, as in here are your people this is who they are, what they look like, what they do, and now lets get in between the sheets. In Lauren's novel I was initially super confused as to what would lead to the first encounter then slowly I began to get it, and found that refreshing. This story has a Pride and Prejudice air to it; almost as if this is how Elizabeth and Darcy would have dealt with their dislike yet undeniable attraction today with our looser morals and lack of pomp and circumstance. Pride and Prejudice is my favorite love story ever, so maybe finding the similarities is what made me like this novel so much. One way or the other I found Bennet and Chloe to be realistic, intriguing, endearing, and their story really being one worth telling but just can't understand when that happened. "Beautiful Bastard" is definitely worth the credit or even spending the 12 bucks, so download it then let me know how you feel.
I really enjoy the world of books! Narration just add layers to that world... don't u think? :)
WOW! I was totally blown away.. This was simply amazing... OMG! I loved it. Great smex, but what a great story line. I love a good romance that borders on the the erotica with an awesome storyline... I simply loved this... I see why it had over 2 million reads online... It should have had more. I loved this!!!
Narration was awesome!!! A totally buy/credit, either one... LOved not Liked... but Loved!!!
Yes: love the story line.......
Similar to Fifty Shades....
When he admits that he wants more from her....
Wishing for this story line to continue...
I didn't give the book a very low rating because I think a lot of people will enjoy it. I didn't. I got past the first unsatisfying encounter, then I didn't want to spend any more time with the characters so I moved on and didn't finish the book. Spoiler Alert: Super rich, super handsome, super sexy man in control with a bad attitude. A young subordinate woman just starting out that is supposed to be super smart, but these women characters never act that way - this one was toddling around on her high heeled Italian shoes and I was not impressed. I didn't like either character and I hope they ended up together in the end - they so deserved each other. Yes there was sexual tension, but not a good kind. As long as you know what you are getting into, the book might work for you. Everything might have turned out OK in the end, but I just could not bring myself to listen to the next encounter.
I've always been a avid reader so now I'm a avid listener. I prefer the paranormal genre but I do like to switch things up. It's boring if you don't have variety. Of course I do love the romance and the hotter the better. Also, you can't beat a good thriller filled with suspense and a ending you can't even guess at until the very end.
I really liked that it gave both characters feelings. I wish the narrators male voice was more masculine, but I loved everything else!!
This is one WELL worth the credit or just buying it!!! It is explict but I have no problems with that. Plus, the passion is sooooo good. I will definitely keep my eyes open for all of Christina Lauren's books because I love her style!
Have a Boomerang Millenial Daughter. We like her, she likes us so, nice to have her back. Both my Husband and I are Proud USN Veterans.
I read the reviews before listening to it. I ended up fast forwarding a lot. To me it was a lot of sex, with a wee bit of story. I'm not a prude when it comes to sex but neither do I want to listen to a book that is all about sex, which is the reason I never bought 50 shades of anything. There were a couple of funny parts but those were few and far between. Plus the sex had no imagination to it. Bottom line, very boring.
