Absolutely Wonderful Listen/ Read!!

I have Never read or listened to this author before, got the book on Audible and listened to it there. Narrator was Excellent and brought the storyline to life. I found this Author's sense of humor so good, just a hoot!! The inner monologue Pell has throughout the book made me laugh more times then I can say. Pell the Main Character is quite a Character and she has the same deep streak of Curiositie as myself which just made me laugh all the more.
Highly recommended this Story and really want to listen to the 2nd book in this Series.

Better than Baklava

Empire of Ash (God of Secrets #1) is better than baklava or Mythos beer.

L. R. W. Lee has buried some magical artifacts into this story, and I'm thrilled to have started to unearth them. Harpoc, Mister Ancient Sexy Bod God of Secrets, and Pellucid Rose make a dynamic pair. I'm ready to dig into the full site and discover the rest of the treasures yet to come.

If you can, listen to the audio version. The storyline is gold, but the silver-lining that makes the main female character shine is the voice of Narrator Sarah Kisko. She really breathes life into Pell.

Notable Quote:
'I look down, busying myself zipping my own jacket. Pugh, I stink. He wrinkles his nose, and I laugh. But the next thing I know, the smell of jasmine replaces puke.
“Much better,” he says.
I don’t disagree.'

Great beginning

This is a new author and narrator to me. Love the character development and plot detail. Can't wait to see more work from them both.

Great Mythology Lesson

I received this audiobook free for an honest review as a member of the Pink Flamingo Productions Review Team. The author gives the listener a lesson in mythology that I can understand and keeps my interest. Loved the theme of this story. Pell is so down to earth with her clumsiness and internal dialogue. She is so naive. In comes her knight in shining armor. The romance between these two is great for young adult reading/listening. The thrill and suspense of their story keeps you on the edge of your seat and your attention from beginning to end. There is also some enjoyable humor. The narrator did a good job with the characters, their voices, and their personalities.

First person

I like the over all story line and it had funny parts here and there. I’m looking forward to the other books so far. I’m not overly fond of first person narrative and sometimes I do find the main characters inner thoughts and monologues annoying but at times realistic but other times overdone :) narration is fair.

Amazing!!!

Loved everything about this story. The concept of scrolls holding secrets that when read come to life was very clever. I love the banter between the two main characters. I still feel there is one secret about Pel that hopefully will come to light in book 2. Can’t wait to see if my hunch is right.

Very different

I found this book intriguing because it wasn’t like any other YA books I’ve read. Pal is an archeologist who deciphers scrolls that bring ancient beings back to life. She meets Harpock, who is very (annoyingly) secretive. Although this is the main part of the book, I felt like I was in the dark until about three quarters through the book. I also couldn’t decide if I hated the inner dialogue of Pal or if I thought it was funny. Maybe a little of both. Anyway, overall this was definitely worth the listen, I’m glad I finished it and I plan to read the next book
