Publisher's summary

The magical world of Volar is dying. To save themselves and their followers, the native gods have instituted a plan, one that will transform Earth mortals into anchors for their powers.

Ty and thousands of other humans are summoned through portals and given one mission: choose a god and power up as fast as they can.

An isekai/portal/progression series, Divine Invasion is the first book in a fast-paced adventure story set in both our world and Volar. Expect demons, dragons, dungeons, and unexpected plot twists to take the story in new and strange directions at every turn.

The gods gave him six months to prepare for their twisted games. What he does next will surprise them all.

Every fantasy daydream writ large

Have you ever imagined that you were in the story, but you didn't start in it? How would you prepare, how would you react to being told that you had 6 months to prepare to be on the tabletop, to be in the game. You are pulled right into the story like the main character is thrust into a new world. In the first three minutes, I was asking my self how would I react .

An interesting take

I like how rather than a forced isekai, it is gi en more as a choice and you can choose not to go. I like the moral dilemma the main character goes through in a world that's supposed to integrate with his own. The author made a great book and the narrator did an amazing job!

A good series start

i appreciated references to the other literary works the author included. the voice acting was decent, but the echo on the gods and arbiters was jarring.

Portal fantasy with a side of apocalyptic dystopia

I enjoyed this series and how it takes time to setup an intricate world and many future conflicts. The sound effects and voice modulation were quite the surprise but I enjoyed a different performance style for a LitRPG. Having already read the books, the audio gave the world extra depth and made several characters more memorable and the story more immersive.

honest review

It never ceases to amaze me, the amount of creativity that goes into this genre. Yet here I sit again, heart racing and on the edge of my seat, shouting at the main character to watch out...

The author carves out a story so compelling, I found myself late for work on more than one occasion, just to hear what happened next!

I will definitely be getting the next book in series and have been telling all my friends to start listening.

fantastic story!

The story had interesting takes on the litRPG genre that I found most enjoyable. I enjoyed seeing the MC progress, even if sometimes he made odd choices. Very AuDHD coded. The narrator did an amazing job, the voices were so convincing and it was easy to tell who was speaking when. I wasn’t a huge fan of the random sound effects, hearing gunshots while driving is not awesome, but there weren’t enough to negatively impact my experience .

So I enjoyed this

I enjoyed the base story premise and the overall story was good however I think a little bit of it got lost in the overall minutiae on more than a few thing and the bit of repetitive word fluff was unneeded. However all that being said good story well produced and a relatively unique presentation definitely will be looking for book two.

Highly recommend

Really enjoyed listening to this book during daily commutes. Found myself wanting to get back to it when I was unable to listen. Thanks for the book! Looking forward to book 2.

unique take on the Isekai/RPG genre

I was skeptical before reading this, because as much as I love my isekai stories, I am getting tired of main characters who get hit by truck kun in the first 5 minutes and land in a new world, somehow knowing everything they already need to know. Instead, Ty has to plan, scheme, and train himself to go to a new world, with real world consequences if he fails. I found the premise to be quite refreshing, and enjoyed exploring the fantasy world with Ty.

Now, that's just the book. Let's talk about the narrator. OMG what a great narrator! He doesn't just read the words on the page- he PERFORMS them. Every character has a unique voice and personality, with a level of sound design that I would never expect of an author's first book. I had planned to use whispersync and just listen to the audio book on my commute, but I can't stop listening. He takes an already good book and makes it PHENOMENAL.
