Publisher's summary

Terrible lizards. That’s what the word dinosaurs means. Yet dinosaurs are not true lizards, and they are not necessarily terrible, either. Paleontologists have overturned many misconceptions, and in Dinosaurs!, we look at what the latest research tells us and what we still have to learn about these endlessly fascinating creatures.

Very interesting for the non scientist.

This book was easy to listen to and understand. It's not overly technical. It would be a good book for a child interested in dinosaurs or a non scientist adult like myself. It is obvious that it was carefully written for the public. Thank you to the people who put in the effort on this fine piece of educational material.

A very interesting book, if you like dinosaurs.

I enjoyed the book as I have enjoyed a renewed interest in the study of dinosaurs. As with so many things in science, the knowledge has only grown since I was a kid in those kid days interest of the subject. I enjoyed hearing this update of the new things known and the new supposition of how dinosaurs lived. The reader was very good and I liked her voice, like a teacher again!

complex subject made understandable.

The "chapters" are composed of articles from Scientific American all about an aspect of dinosaur research. This presentation kept the "story" moving along in a bright spirited fashion, allowing for different voices, different topics, different problems and different endings to each topic. Because I became newly interested in each story it prevented me from feeling "bogged down" and "mired" in the complexity of what is a very complex science.
The narrator was excellent. She did not struggle in pronouncing long scientific names or words where necessary, but kept the pace of the conversation going so I could continue to follow the gist of the story or return to listen more carefully to the scientific names of species or procedures as I wished.
I was sorry when I came to the end of the book. But I'm happy to say that, because the chapters are the titles of the articles themselves, it will be easy for me to return and just select the article which I wish to re-read and start listening.
I recommend the book to anyone who is interested in current knowledge about dinosaurs.
I would also recommend it for anyone who has always wondered how research is done on things that have been dead for millions of years.

Great 2014 Dinosaur Science!

This audiobook is a narrated version of a 2015 Scientific American special edition magazine on the latest and greatest dinosaur research. It was great! I really enjoyed it; a wonderful listen for any dinosaur lover.

Because it was originally published 7 years ago, however, I am sure there have been significant advancements in paleontology since then. As such, I think this is an amazing way to become reengaged with the paleontological field if you've been away from the field. I love dinosaurs, but I haven't read about them in a while, so I learned a lot. Perhaps people who work in paleontology wouldn't learn as much, but because these articles were published in Scientific American, they were curated to be readable and understandable by a wider audience than professionals in this field.

I'm really glad I listened to this and I will keep my ears open for further audio adaptations of SciAm works.

Incredible Animals.

Ann Richardson who narrates the multiple stories in this audio book does an excellent job at both her annunciations and expressions in each and every journey that is presented. I found this audio book especially interesting as it covers a wide verity of topics related to dinosaurs and their evolution throughout their discovery and final ending 66 million years ago. If you enjoy learning especially about the past and how it relates to the present, then these are great adventure plots to take you there. I have listened several times over to get the fullest understanding of each topic. This is a technical book as it comprises editions from Scientific American and its authors. We are currently in the "Golden Age of Dinosaurs", as new discoveries are occurring every month that is changing how we understand these incredible animals.

Sing-songy narration

The narration has a lilting erratic tone, written as if one talking to a small child. Couldn’t complete.
