Feels like old school Discovery channel
Honestly, I was hanging on every word. The author is a great writer, and the narrator did a fantastic job. In my opinion as a doctor myself, she did a great job, balancing the technical jargon of the science with the readability.

bugs bones blood and other fascinating items
I teach Criminal Investigation with an emphasis on Forensic evidence collection. This book is spot on, it's scientific interpretation of subject mingled with history is easy to listen/read. It was nice to be reminded that though our world can be and often times is simply gross, it is also a wonderfully exciting place that holds the key to our existence.

I loved it
This was a very interesting book. I'm a scientist and purposely stayed away from animal science because of all this gross stuff. I kept groaning in the lab while listening, and my lab mates wanted to know what I was listening to. They got to hear some of the gross details, and we got into some interesting conversations. Well done!

I liked the oddball collection of gross/gory facts throughout the book. Thumbs up to some of the punny dad jokes. The author tied subjects together well, and her zest for oddities improved the experience.

Interesting science
It's not just gory it has a lot of facts that helps understand the world. Like the author says, if we don't talk about it we don't acknowledge and we ignore it. I can't believe there are still so many secrets that spook us.
