FANTASTIC!!!!

I've said that word before...Fantastic....and I mean it once again with every fiber of my being! This series is in my top five of all time and this book clinches that title! OMG, the action all the way through, the feels...Nicky James is such an incredible author and Nick Russo is the perfect narrator to bring her work to life. I am so sad that this one is coming to an end soon.

This series gets better and better!

I absolutely loved this latest book for Valor and Doyle! Do I say this every time? Yes, I do. Did I also need to relive in in audio? Yes, yes I did! This series just gets better and better with every book. There are so many feels and emotions in this book, and Nick Russo did an amazing job of bringing those to life for us once again. Nick has such a way with bringing Quaid and Aslan to life with each story. The emotions that Nick brings to this story, were really poignant this time around. Aslan continues to heal from his last case, facing demons from his past with Quaid by his side. I love how they continue to become closer, fall more in love, and seeing Aslan show his love for Quaid more often. The support Quaid provides Aslan as he works through his lingering fears and doubts is so heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. Case wise, Quaid begins working a missing persons case with his new partner, Frawley. These two start off as oil and water, and manage to butt heads at every turn. They begin to find a bit of footing with each other, thanks to Aslan gently guiding Quaid. Their case is intense, intricate, and takes them digging in several directions. Aslan dabbles in some grunt work on this one while still on leave, as well as Ruiz, who is quickly becoming a favorite character of mine. His banter with Quaid is top notch, and Aslan even gets into the friendship mix with Ruiz. I loved the intricacies of the case, and I had great fun trying to figure it out with the rest of the team. Once again Nicky James has done a fantastic job weaving another wonderful tale for Aslan and Quaid. There could be 100 books with these two, and I would be just as eager to read the next! I am SO looking forward to their next book!!

Can’t wait for the next one

All these books have great stories and the narration by Nick Russo is amazing. The books are not perfect but the good definitely outweigh the bad.

So sorry, but….

I was bored with the case and I didn’t like the new partner. The first four books in this series were amazing.

i liked previous books more than this one

previous books were better. this does not mean, that the story is bad. in comparison, it's just not as interesting as others. but! the relationship between MC's...omg soooo good!!!! even the aspect with new partner is interesting. i was worried at first because i did not like her, but she grew on me (not that she is my favorite, but i understand her better now and tolerate her)

I Love This Series, Good Story

Valor and Doyle is one of my favorite series, every story has an interesting mystery for characters to solve as well as further development of their relationship. In this installment Aslan is struggling to recover from the conclusion of the previous story, while Quaid has a new partner to get along with. Narrator did a great job with the story and character voices. This was a great listening experience.

Defying Logic

I was nervous about this book because of the way the last one ended but this was great! I figured out the mystery in this book really, really early and never waived in what I thought happened. I hadn’t figured out all the details though. It was still enjoyable! I can’t wait for the next one!

Best in the Series!

Absolutely amazing! My favorite in the series so far and once again Nick J. Russo just blows it out of the water bringing these 2 detectives to life! This was a long book and I did not skip a single word and I never wanted it to end. When we left our favorite detectives at the end of book 4 I was so worried how they were going to move on from those tragic events. Well I didn't need to worry and book 5 did not disappoint. Aslan was still slowly working through things with Quaid right by his side. Supporting him, loving him, being there for him. There were so many tender, special and caring moments of the two of them healing and moving forward. It was absolutely perfect! The whole gang is back and I fall in love with Ruiz more and more with every interaction between him and Quaid. Quaid has a new partner and she was a formidable match for him. The case they are working on in this book was so detailed, so thorough, and had me guessing until the end. It was masterfully woven throughout all the character development and interaction, everyone playing an important role and all their personalities and idiosyncrasies shining through. These characters have embedded themselves in my heart and I do not want to let them go. I hope the series continues for a long time. The end left me in a puddle of goo and eagerly awaiting the next book!

THEY JUST GET BETTER

I just can’t stop loving these two. I hope Nicky never stops writing them… and the amount of growth that happens for both of them in this book? Amazing. It can be really hard for people (especially stubborn people) to look on the mirror, see where they need to change and actually MAKE those changes. And mental healing is never easy.

I’m so excited for the next one it hurts. The way they’re THERE for each other is priceless.

So good!!!

This couple, Quaid and Aslan, just keep getting better and better. I’ve loved seeing their relationship strengthen through all the hardships Nicky puts them through. The case and Quaid’s new partner plus Aslan’s dealing with the events of the last book made this one quite interesting. Narration, like all the others was on point!
